Hey all,
I may hqve the chance to pick up a 3T Gobi rack for about half of retail here in my area. I'm not 100% sure that I "need" one so I was hoping someone would talk me into it or out of it. What true applications does it afford?

Buy it. They're nice, look bad ass, and make for good additional cargo space and mounting for equip and lighting. Worst case, buy it on the cheap and sell it if you don't like it to make a few bucks.

Absolutely, get it - especially for that price. Does it come with the sun-roof insert? My T doesn't have a sun-roof, so the insert doubled my carrying space on the rack. IMO, they are the best roof racks made and fit the T "to a T". I have one on my T and have mounting brackets on the driver's side to attach my ARB awning and hi-lift brackets on the passenger side for the jack. I use mine to hold 2 tool cases whenever we go wheeling and carry duffel bags and folding chairs whenever I drive to Moab to free up some space in the bed and cab.

I also have "customized" some F16 seat belt strap buckles w/hooks that clip onto the floor of the rack that I use as tie-down points for bungees and straps to tighten things down to lessen the chance of things moving around or falling off the rack while wheeling.
