I'm not positive on how long the news has been out and about, but I came across recently that Toyota announced they will stop ****ting out, I mean producing FJ cruisers!!!!!!:):):):):):)

I have always viewed them as cheap asian Hummer knock offs and despised them for as long as I can remember, please join in on the fun if you think this is a great day!! lol

You're as bad as the anti-hummer people. I kinda like the FJs. I wouldn't want one, but I've seen some nicely built up ones and from what I understand they are pretty decent offroad. Why the hate?

They are capable but ugly. Now that I've seen a few w/out the white roof I like it much more.

I think they are junk. Despite the ugly looks I wanted one when they first came out with the trd package. I test drove a couple and even was able to do a little offroading in one. Guess what I ended up with? An H3 adventure... The only advantage they have is a large aftermarket following (which allows them to be pretty built and perform well) stock for stock there is no comparison.

In not gonna put then down...Much, but I'd say I personally never really liked them. They look like a priuse on roids and with an extra chromosome

Before I bought the H3 I was trying to buy one from a guy in the army. He had it all decked out, 3 inch lift, bull bar with winch, aftermarket wheels with oversized tires, with alot of other mods... It was really sweet, but he would not come down to my price range. That is the only one that I have seen to this date that I would have bought.

I hate how they look, but based on how I wheel (desert and dune runs) they are way better than an H3. Abit lighter and more front end travel make up for a better and faster ride. People actually prefer em over the F150 raptors here as they fare better on the dunes! If I didnt love my H3, I wldve been driving an FJ.
On road they have alot of road noise though.

Seeing the ones that come to Moab, they are as capable as the H3. Do they have faults? Sure, the back seat view is terrible due to the window design, they have the biggest blind spot in the C-pillar I have seen in years. They don't look as appealing to me as the H3, but that is subjective and to some they are better looking than the H3. However to say they are a "cheap Asian Hummer knock off is ludicrous. They came out before the H3, are not sized anywhere near the H2 and were designed as the replacement for the FJ40.

i'd drive one if hummers weren't available. i'm kind of sad they're not making them anymore. competition makes for a better market, as we've seen with the re-introduction of the camaro and challenger.

I was humoring all kinds of vehicles before I bought my H3. I started by looking at that little Dodge box thing (Nitro? it was 4 wheel drive, in name at least), it was too small and under done. I stuck my head in an FJ Cruiser and got turned off immediately, the interior was horrible to me and not even worth a test drive. I've been turned off to them since.
Funny thing is, the very first H3 I drove back in '06 had a plain jane interior with cloth seats and very little power. I was far from impressed and thought I was done looking at those as well. Then I found my H3, sitting with Adventure package, white with chrome accents and the Morrocan leather interior---I was hooked.
So I guess I'm saying, I guess it's really how it's dressed out for me to notice it. I bought the H3 the next day.....

they stopped producing FJs in 1982

still, for a cheap, super unleaded burning 4x4 - the knockoffs do get good mpg... though, they are pretty cheap (not practical, not Toyotesque... cheap - honestly, it's an outlier to anything else Toyota makes)

and the other bit - why does everything have to be bigger and better? in 4x4 world, bigger is simply a bigger stuck. The FJs had it 100% right to build them smaller and lighter with flat under carriages.

The SoCal group has had a few go wheeling with us. They are quite capable vehicles. Having close to same wheelbase as an H3 made it easy to spot them through tough obstacles.

I was shocked when a FJ owner told me his milage on a similarly set up FJ
- 4" lift
-winch
-mounted hi-lift
- ect

He has the V6 I have a S/C'ed V8
He had 33's, I have 37's

And I was getting better milage then him!!!??? And here I thought it was hummers that we're killing the environment? :p

That all said I have wheeled with them and find them to be much like any modern IFS setup.....just with more blind spots!

Sorry guys..... I just personally don't like the vehicles style and some details seem to stem from the hummer that's all

also if I'm not mistaken most, if not all, my other posts are about fixing/upgrading my h2, so whoever said that, yeah...
