Exhaust Drone

I'm looking for some feedback on the exhaust drone from the different systems on the market (ie. Gibson, Magnaflow, Borla, Dynomax, Corsca, etc). Understand that the Gibson only has the mid-resonator and no rear muffler, whereas the Magnaflow has the mid-res and rear muffler. I've searched here and on Youtube looking for any videos, or feedback. Looking for real world experience here. Personally I'm leaning towards the Gibson, as the idle quality sounds better but at same time I'm not looking for major drone within the cab of the H3.

Any feedback / thoughts / comments would be greatly appreciated.

I drove an 09 H3T with a 3.7 that sounded great. I asked the owner about it and he told me it was the GM performance exhaust. I give it two thumbs...not loud...no drone...just deeper sounding.

I have the Gibson and it is only slightly louder than stock at lower RPM's. Although when I am passing someone at high RPM's, 4000+, it is definitely louder. I do like the freed up space at the rear for a future project.

What is the drone like when you are driving on the highway say 70-80 mph? Without the rear muffler wondered if it would hit a resonance and start humming inside the cab. Don't need or want my kids in the backseat complaining about the drone.

I have a MagnaFlow , it sounds and is not bad inside .

This still retains the mid-resonator and the rear muffler. Depending on the internal tubing of the rear muffler and the tuning tubes would depend on the flow characteristics and which frequency they tuned out (1st order, 2nd order, etc). This looked like a good option but wanted less restriction and if can get rid of the rear muffler would help in this area.

Not bad, but with tires, roof rack, plastic trim all adding to the noise, I've learned to ignore it. My buddies with MT's are much worse sounding than my exhaust.

I have a Flowmaster series 40 dual outlet muffler, secondary cat deletes and 3 inch tailpipes out the back. And I don't have a back seat.

I have the GM performance on both trucks

1. Its made by Borla and basically replaces the mid resonator with a straight pipe. Rear muffler is replaced by a borla unit (you can check with borla)

2. The I5 sounds louder than my V8. The exhaust is nice but its airy (I really have no other explaination to its sound at idle)

3. There is some drone on the highway, Im used to it and doesn't bother me.

4. The exhaust comes without tips. 50 USD for each clamp on tip (has the H3 logo). The V8 version comes with tips welded.

5. On my V8, 4 years later the rear muffler is rusted, tips are tarnished. I do lots of beach driving so i guess the salt did it. The I5 still looks good.

6. IIRC, the exhaust cost $300 for the I5. Now I have no idea why its listed at this absurd price but this link is exactly where I bought it from:
