Earlier, I was trying to get at my air filter to check it and I was not able to pop it off. Is there an easy way that I'm missing, or is it simply a bear to get off?
(Not sure if there is a difference between the Alpha / 5 cylinder either...)
The air filter and bottom air box is the same for both the Alpha & I5 but the top air box and intake tubing is different which might make it more of a challenge but I don't know. Its super easy on my I5. Just pop the two clips, pull down on the lid to get the top taps out and lift enough to get the filter out.
1) remove the air cleaner outlet duct going into the air filter box
2) disconnnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the MAF sensor
3) disconnect the secondary air injection hose quick connect fitting from the other side of the air filter box by squeezing/pinching the plastic ring around the hose and simultaneously pulling it away from the air filter box
4) unhook the 2 air filter box clips. Open the cover & remove/replace the filter.
