Hey guys, Here is the route info with descriptions and links of the trip. Its more now a death valley trip versus nevada traverse. All of the locations are in the northern end of the valley and are the most remote. You will have to take the above files and place them into google earth to view the route.

The trip will start friday morning at 830 from the Albertsons on durango and 95. We will proceed north to Beatty where we will fuel up. From Beatty we will travel about 10-15 mi north to a cut off going west to Tokop NV http://www.robertwynn.com/Tokop.htm from there we will keep traveling west to Stateline NV http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/goldmountain.html both are pretty close in distance from each other. We will contimue west along the Oriental wash to Death Valley road and then head north to Crankshaft junction. http://www.smeethpics.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12&Itemid=15 following the old road west we come to the townsite of crater where alot of mining remnants are. From there we end up heading south to eureka sand dunes click the above link. after eureka we will head south to steele pass and dedereka canyon http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4521. Probally the only real technical portion of the trip. After steele pass we will come up to the hot springs. Next we will head down around Saline Valley and on toward Lippencott trail. which will dump us out on too the death valley race track and near both the Ubehebe lead mine http://www.ripleysghosttowns.com/ubehebe.html and down around the corner the Lost Burro Mine http://www.ripleysghosttowns.com/lostburro.html. From there we will exit near the Ubehebe Crater and back towards Beatty.

I am not setting any campground locations so we are not pushing it missing things so we can meet deadlines. Also I am packing enough for 4 days and 3 nights but I believe most of the roads we will be on like in saline valley we will be moving pretty quick soo we might finish sooner than later. Gas is a must bring plenty of extra!! I have not been in most of these area soo it will be new to me. Hopefully an epic trip!

Be safe.. how many vehicles is going with you? I'd get a Spot communicator at a minimum as a communications backup since cel coverage is spotty at best out there.

Sounds like a great time. I would like to go out to that area again with a small group.
Renting a SAT phone is an option as well. As Kurt said, Cell phones are not much help.
The SPOT now that can link to other devices or to text are great too so you can just get help without alerting a rescue with no information.

I already had the PN40 guess I will have to upgrade!

Or even better technology the new "inReach"

At the very least I would check in with a Ranger station and give them at least a general idea of the area you are going to and a time line on your return. If you do so, be absolutely sure you check out with them upon your return to a more accessible area.

Or rent an irdium phone. I wound up buying one after renting one, got one for a good deal [a few hundred dollars + $29/mo for emergency only air time].

Came in handy in Colorado, was over an hour away from the nearest cel phone tower and was able to get a call out to Tustin hummer to get a truck troubleshooted in the middle of the mountains.

I'm getting ready for going out that way at some point. Still going over some things that need attention. With some advanced notice I would love for a group out that way to get together. It takes me two days to get there and I would probably stay longer than the group but I missed some of what I wanted to do because the other vehicle had to cut it short. Had some Jeepers ask me to stay but decided to push on to other planned areas back towards home, sort of.
They were a great group and were decked out with equipment.

If you are referring to me I'm still working on an open schedule but want 3 or 4 others to go.
I need to find me a co-pilot for driving that far and in case we end up on our own again.
It's a wait and see for me right now and I want to wait for the skids to get done and ship them all.

Actually I had great cell service everywhere except in the valley where stovepipe and Furnace creek are. I was really surprised going up Lippencot and I was talking over the blue tooth to my wife lol. We have a spot with us at all times. Actually I have never seen soo many vehicles and people out there before. We camped out at Lippencot campsite the finally night near the racetrack and had 7 trucks pull and camp. Hunner if you head out there sometime let me know, Im only 2 hrs away.

Hey that sounds good. I did play around at Stovepipe and Furnace Creek, but some of the trails in tight canyons even my GPS did not work.
Local knowledge is always good. I will get with you when if I can get a trip going.
Did you see any rocks taxiing on the runway??? lol
Thanks

Las Vegas, NV,
Great time of the year for Death Valley and surrounding area. Sometimes like a traffic jam out there on the weekends. Lots of people having fun, whether wheeling or RVing.
