Clicking/ Clanging after changing CV and other front end work

So, I had a torn CV boot on the drivers side, as well as bad axle mount bushing so I decided to replace all the axle bushings, put in a brand new CV, and in the process I also put in a drivers side lower ball joint, and changed the front diff fluid Once I got it back on the road I immediately noticed a clicking / clanking sound upon acceleration and it was rhythmic meaning the faster you went, the fast the clanging got. I could also feel some vibration through the gas pedal. I thought i potentially torqued the axle nut too tight, so I loosened that and retorqued, and that seemed to help a bit but the noise is still there. This noise did not exist prior to the front end work.

The noise seems to happen between 10-30 mph, and worse when turning

I'm thinking that I might have gotten a bad CV shaft? any other ideas of what else it could be?

Also, can you replace the CV by removing the hub, or do you need to separate the ball joints? Or, is there any trick to getting the knuckle in the lower ball joint while sliding the CV shaft in? That sumbitch is a tough nut to crack.

As far as replacing the CVs, you only have to unbolt the pinch bolt at the top, you don't have to undo the lower ball joint. There is a write up in the tech library on how to swap CVs out.

Also did you go aftermarket with the new axle bushings? If so slightly more noise is transferred through since they are much more stout than OEM.

if you're raised to 23.5" or higher, some CV joints don't have enough clearance to work without interference.... if that is it, the only choice is going with an AC Delco CV.... been there, done that.

I did put in the outfitter designs bushing set. CV shaft was:

Cardone 66-1417 Axle


Also forgot I put in their bump stops, and bilstein shocks. Doubt those have anything to do with the noise.

Is the clicking noise coming from the drivers side front? Or the passenger side? Maybe you got a bad cv axle. I have a cardone axle and it has been doing good for about 6 months. Did you hear it click when you inserted the end of the axle into the front diff shaft?

Also lifted to about 23 1/4.

Yes, noise is coming from driver. Same side I replaced. It did click in

You are definitely going to hear slightly more noise with this. Its much sturdier than oem, however that means a little more noise, not the luxury quiet that was originally there. I can't speak to the clicking however.

I would swap sides with the CVs and listen if the noise follows. Or do as I have recently started to do, stick a GoPro next to the where you think the noise is and chase it down that way.

I can swap back in the original cv and see what happens. Just trying to avoid that if this is normal bad cv symptoms
