This year, Heather and I are traveling to Denmark over Christmas. Because of that, we celebrated an early Christmas with her folks today.

Surprised Heather got you the Legos here - why not get them when you get to Denmark and buy the "real" ones instead of the imported ones we have here? You know the home country stuff is always better than the imports, from BMWs to Heineken to Guinness. :wink:

Today I completed the rear suspension, front and rear power takeoffs and the engine block. I also completed the front geared hubs and the steering rack and have one of the coilover springs installed. I also ran hoses for the rear air connection and I finished the air pump. This truck is *so* ridiculously detailed and complicated to build, but probably surprisingly true to the real thing in many of the mechanical details.

Looks like Lego has come a long way since I last saw it in the 1980's and early 90's.

This set has some very fancy parts for things like differentials and crank shafts and gear selection. Those components didn't exist back when I played with Lego's as a kid. Back then, I built my own differenetials by modifying a gear wheel, and I built my own crank shafts and 2 speed stick shift transmissions using the not-so-advanced Lego's of the 1980's and 90's.
