...just watched the movie with Heather tonight.

It was INTENSE!

For some odd reason, the scene that was the most intense for me was the one where Capt. Philips is safe and aboard USS Bainbridge and is being checked out by the corpsman.

I think the thing that made this movie so intense for me, is the fact that it was a depiction of real events. I have no doubts that everyone in the Navy are every bit as trained, motivated and skilled as the movie portrays.

Anyone that knows Capt. Phillips thinks of him as a ego maniac, horse's ass!

There was a lot of drama over that with the crew. Have to agree with Luis. Never saw the movie because of the issues from the crew.

He's a lucky ****er because of the US NAVY plain and simple. Hats off to them and not him

The crew took money for rights and had to sign NDA's but the whole situation was Phillips fault, the whole hijacking was completely avoidable, yet he walks out a hero and gets a movie deal.

I had a chance at work to go see the movie, with Tom Hanks there and having a talk afterwards and everything and I still turned it down, I got better things to do with my time. :wink:

I used to really enjoy Tom Hanks and his movies - no so much anymore - I can't point to any one thing, but it started with the Da Vinci Code (but I did like Charlie Wilson's war).... then Angels and Demons - and now I have no desire to watch him or his movies. (and no to the charge it's because I'm a Christian; I'm a Protestant and seeing the Catholic church being attacked doesn't really do any more for me than watching Islam being attacked - if anything, I enjoy those movies because I know enough to point out the glaring flaws; then suspend belief to enjoy the movie)
