Here's one of cheapo readers for your smartphone app. I know this works with TorquePro on Android; can't speak to the iPhone's abilities. I've had this one for a few years now.

Neat! I've thought about going with the torque app, but I use my phone for other stuff half the time, plus don't you have to turn on the app every time you want to use it? Or is there a way to have it pop up automatically when you start your vehicle? I'm going with the Ultragauge MX (should be here this week) since it has the ability to check transmission temps and oil life as well as a few other GM specific things, and it powers on and off automatically.

I don't use the app that often, mostly just for trouble codes and occasionally to monitor coolant temp.
