Alpha badge, not an alpha?

Hey guys
I rly like the alpha badges and what not ur do not own an alpha I have the I5. But if I throw on the badges is that something a newbie would do and be heckled for? Haha Just wondering thanks

I don't understand why someone would want to put an alpha badge on an i5 model. Reminds me of the kids that put SS or Turbo stickers on their 2001 civics.

You might be surprised! There are a lot of dumb people out there who have no idea what V8, I5 or even what Alpha means.

I am not a fan of false advertisement but if you look at the collector car market and look at Mach 1 , Cobra, SS/RS , Z/28 there are more fakes than originals ans they are still selling badges. Not only that there is a premium paid for cars that look the part but are not originals. Now I do not believe that applies to HUMMERS I have seen an older model H1 with ALPHA badges for sale and it did not even have the DURAMAX conversion.

I think one difference with that is when they do those they usually put everything on them that the genuine ones have, like motor/ tranny, body parts, suspension, etc. So even though they weren't from the factory, they are still the same thing physically.

So I could see it if one swapped out the motor and actually "converted" the truck into an Alpha. I mean, when they're not made any more and there's only so many out there, sometimes you have to come up with other options.

Do what you want! Many of us hardcore Hummer fanatics would see through it being the I5 sounds a LOT different than the V8. Also, you would be missing the interior Alpha emblems.

You would be surprised how many cars out there have upgraded emblems. I was recently at a Pick-a-Part trying to find some parts for my Monte Carlo Z34. I found several in the yard that were LS models with the Z34 trunk.

If the addition of the badge came with a v8 swap and whatever other Alpha only parts, then I'd have no issue with it. As long as if it were ever sold it was clearly stated it was an I5 converted to a V8.

Of course, the VIN would tell all. I have a coworker that bought what he thought was a 67 Pontiac GTO. The VIN identified it as a Tempest.

carfax is your friend.

But dude, that sucks. I'd be severely P.O. if I paid the premium for what I thought was a GTO only to find out later it was a Tempest dressed up as a GTO. I feel for the guy (or girl).

Wile back, on ebay, i say a turbo sticker that adds 2-5 hp... Maybe adding the Alpha badge will give you extra power to your I5 and if you are lucky... come more ground clearance... :giggle:
