3rd Brake light help

Hey everybody,

I was wondering if you had seen or heard of this happeneing and new nything about it. My thrid brake light only fully lights up halfway and the other half is super dim to the point where you can barely see it.

The CHMSL assembly is comprised of two different circuit boards containing (I believe 4 LED assemblies each). Usually, it requires a replacement of the entire assembly. However, if it was me, I would remove it and take it apart and attempt to see what broke and possible rebuilding the circuit board. But that's me. Granted it is easier to just replace. One of the suppliers here, GM parts warehouse probably sells the replacement unit.

ouch. $157, look like ill be riding around with half a brake light for a while :giggle: i might try and take it apart one weekend. Thanks for the help!

may not be too bad, but not worth the money right now. im 17 and put everything in gas and insurance haha :giggle:

Yup. Ebay is great for stuff like this. You probably can't find one by searching for the light itself. Instead...you gotta find the whole totaled H3, then email the seller about the specific part you're looking for (the brake light). There's tons of em on there...here's a few Ebay members to contact:

Or...... you could try to replace it with something aftermarket. Get your hands dirty a little and build something bigger and better.

Since this is about brake lights I have and issue.. My driver side rear brake light is not functioning.. The parking light is but the break light is not.. I have replaced the bulb with no luck.. Checked what I can of wiring and all looks ok.. At first it would flicker on and off during bumps but now nothing.. Any ideas???

Try replacing the socket as they are known to fail. If that's not it then you have a ground issue either from a bad connection or a frayed wire.

Mine went out like that. Took it apart and fixed the board. There was some water damage/corrosion on the board.

Got it figured out.. There is a module wired in so if u had LED lights it would low the flash down.. The brake wire was just unhooked.. Easy fix!!!
