What is it worth? There is only one reference standard. Check out the
COMPLETED LISTINGS on Ebay.
Go ahead. Check it out. I'll wait. Make sure you scroll down thru 3 or 4 pages worth.
What the numbers mean:
Notice there are pages and pages of
RED ending prices, with a few
GREEN ending prices inter-mixed among them. The
GREEN prices are the ones that matter...
those are ones that actually sold. The
RED listings are just dreamers...people that actually think a Hummer will bring what they're asking. Forget what KBB says. Forget what you see painted on the windshield. Forget what you see on the web. THE
GREEN LISTINGS SHOW WHAT HUMMERS SELL FOR. Not rumors. Not some b.s. value the the industry has put on it. These are actual selling prices. Period.
At this time there is only one T that has sold for $30K..and it was totally decked-out and practically brand new (8K miles). But notice how many other H3/H3T's had 15, 20, or even 30 bids and still didn't sell? That should be telling you something. It tells you that many Hummer owners are completely delusional about their vehicle's value. Some of these poor idiots have listed, re-listed, re-re-listed...each time getting many bids and each time refusing to sell. Its like they have somehow convinced themselves that their Hummer is worth more than it actually is...and they refuse to get a reality check. Its both funny and sad at the same time. Trust me dude. If your H3 got fifteen bids...and it topped $20K...SELL IT! Quit playin games with yourself.
Now go back and take a look at the
RED listings again. Even though these sellers didn't close the deal...there is some valuable info here for the buyer. Focus on the
RED listings that got over 10 bids, and another interesting number will begin to appear. This shows you the
average mean price that people bid up to. As you can see it tends to hover between $6K and $12K. After that...bidding falls off sharply...the auction doesn't meet reserve...and it ends without a sale. This average price shows you what real people are willing to really pay for a Hummer. You'll notice that very few H3's actually sell for more than $13K. Oh sure they
list for $25K. They occasionally get
bids for $25K. But they rarely
sell for anywhere near $25K. The average selling number is more like $13K.
Use this "completed listing" info to your advantage...it tells you exactly what you should be paying. Beware, it also tells you what your's should sell for. Don't be a dreamer.
