Love how your front license plate follows the contours of your truck from all the scraping/bending it did!

Custom license plate modification: few years and a ton of hard work :D

Yesterday I received an awesome compliment on squeaky. It was from my buddy who is going to the rubicon with me, we were driving to Sun valley from Santa Clarita and then to LA. We had to pick up some metal at Inustrial metal supply and then a spare steering box from a wrecking yard for squeaky in case I break one on the rubicon. As were driving home he has now spent about an hour or so in the hummer and as were cruising down the freeway at 75mph he says damn you would never know that you did a v8 swap(minus the loud exhaust lol) and a solid axle swap in this truck, it doesnt vibrate, it doesnt shimmy, its smooth as hell, its cruising at 75, you have no CEL or traction lights, its just a comfortable badass ride and after all this work its still really a luxury vehicle. Which made me super happy because that is what I set out to do 6.5 years ago. Make it as off road worthy as possible but retain the comfort a Hummer provides.

With that said less then a week till the rubicon!

And it looks BAD ASS too !!!!!!!!! It would have been nice if the brain trust at GM would have designed and built a model like yours is now .

Ok , maybe I was wrong . But there is hope, now that after 10 yrs of a/c problems they are now doing a recall . But I do still stand by my comments call Chris' H3 BAD ASS !

Drove 400 miles to bebes. Down to the rubicon, wheeled the rubicon, camped down by fordyce, drove back to bebes, visited ruffstuff specialities drove back to fordyce, wheeled a few miles into fordyce, then drove back 430 miles home and the v8 didn't miss a beat. while the front end blew it's nice being able to unlock the hubs and drive home without the blender going inside the front diff. Reliability test: COMPLETE

Passed easily...and 1,119.5 miles later I'm home safely :) no trailers no tow trucks either

Congrats on the motor. Too bad about the front axle...there must be something wrong down there.
Failure at highway speeds points to a bearing or setup problem. A properly assembled D44 should last years, and I'm surprised that you've had so many issues. Anyway...it's cool you could shut it off until you got home.

I finally got rid of my 35in spare. Currently I run a big 37 which measures out at 37.2 and my next set will probably be 38.5 Interco's after I do some more axle upgrades so I picked up 2 spares for cheap. Goal was something gnarly, if I get a flat I want something that will get me out. I picked up 2 38.5x11r16 Boggers. They are in great shape with no dry not. I also went very narrow so it doesnt hang off the bumper too far. These measure out around 37.6 so a tad big for my current tire and a tad small for my next but they are within an inch of each other and only designed to get me home so they wont see extended use with the full time t case.

I started modifying the stock tire carrier to make it fit.





Even with a spacer on the tire carrier it hits and doesnt let the door close



So I pulled it off and started cutting it up and will raise the mount. Now I have a spare that will work for this tire size and the next (within an inch of both sizes) and I got rid of my old duratrac which was almost 3in smaller then my current tires.

I run stock rims because they are free and I like a 16in rim size vs 17. Over 35in your limited so I tried the trxus mt and they kick ass so far!

I would love to keep the stock rims when I finally get my lift, whats the price for the trxus, they look good to me

I apologize for not updating this. After I went through 2 big builds in a short time I was on here non stop with updates and after I finished them I have gotten quiet. Ive been busy, I do check in but haven't updated much so its time!

After today I have around 18k miles on the SAS in a little over a year and almost 8k miles on the V8 swap in about 6 months. I was having axle issues. I may have gone over them in another thread but I had noise with the axle since day 1. Fast forward I went through a R&P. The bearing race would go in and out by hand which is a big flag! They should be a bitch to get in and out. Either way I spoke with CJ and he sent me one of his unfinished ford hi pinion 44s that was retubed for passenger drop. I finished that and threw it in. With the high pinion I got an upgrade as the gears now ride on the drive side and not the coast side which is better along with better driveline angles. I sent the empty housing out to be geared by a shop that I did trust, at that point I was going to NY and didnt have the time and while I had regeared axles in the past with no issue but I with all the issues I was having I sent it out. Sure enough I throw it back together and its not working. I then have to pull it all apart and sure enough the guy who did the gears opened up the ox locker (which was one of the only working things in that old axle!) and inspected it, he forgot to put in the side gear. He of course denied it all and I had to order a side gear from OX. Without a side gear it will spin but without spinning the axle shaft. This was a very good reminder on why I never let people do work on my stuff. I have been burned too many times. Either way I install a new side gear and put it back together. I end up with no noises and no issues! YAY!!! So of course it was time to go wheeling. We went to BC109 which was a fun trail but after the recent flash floods it seems most challenges got washed away. Luckily there were a few challenges left. We had 3 TJs 1 ford raptor 1 old school suburban on 37s and squeaky. one of the TJs I recently regeared and installed a locker so it was a good little shakedown for him and all went well. on to a few pics











Here I actually nicked the door. I challenged the red TJ to take this line and he dinged his door on a tree. He then challenged me and seeing I was much wider I knew I didnt have a chance with the line he took so I got creative and made her fit. Everyone was shocked. We were the only two who took it the line, everyone else would have had a tough time doing it or trash their rig.
