Did an absolutely fantastic job with this, I had a 2003 Tahoe with almost all the options that was my first car at 16 many many years ago. I realized GMT800s were going to be a classic as soon as the 900s came out and then the K2XX solidified it. The current generation is just embarrassing in my...
Im going to be honest, this truck is constantly hitting the 5,600rpm redline.
I’m not big on the cam route right now because the engine has almost 210k miles so opening the engine leads to a lot more “well-might-as-wells and while I have plenty of other vehicles to run, I’m not interested in...
Honestly anywhere, I'm not sure if the H3 uses the standard bolt pattern but the 4L60e was used in the Holden Commodores/utes there in Australia so any regular shop shouldn't have a problem rebuilding this transmission.
I’m not sure why this hasn’t crossed my mind earlier but those rims probably wouldn’t look bad on our trucks - I’m wondering if anyone has considered if the pattern and backspacing work?
Thoughts?
Now with all that said you won’t notice a huge difference with 4.56s, the truck will just feel “right”. It will feel like it should have felt from factory IMO. If you want to feel the money you spent on gears I think you may be more satisfied with 4.88s.
The 4.56s just feel natural. If you...
It’s frankly a hard decision, with my 4.10s and 37s frankly I found the truck nearly un-drivable at high way speeds every little hill or gust of wind caused it to kick down the trans and it was gutless. I hated driving the truck on the highway.
As for 4.56 vs 4.88s you can find a lot of...
There are other thread where I posted later but I ended up going 4.56. At the time it just made more sense since I had smaller 37s and did a lot of Highway, it boosted my average MPG up to 12.5 and made 13-14 easy depending on drive.
Truck drives great at 80MPH, absolutely fantastic RPM is...
I’m glad to see there’s still interest in this platform, especially since its been 10 years since it died (same came be said for most defunct brands, Saab?)
I think it looks great though I’m unclear if this would be a complete dash replacement or a screen in addition to the existing dash...
What do you mean by, “move the drive shaft back and forth” it’s not unusual for well worn rubber mounts to get loose with time and there is a way to put in new bushings to cradle the diff in place but I’m not sure that’s your issue judging by the previously mentioned statement.
I’ve never seen the tray fill with water, those light holes definitely leak just like the front ones but I’ve never seen them leak as much as the front ones.
You’re going to have to take the whole rail off the truck and RTV it. Also bearer of bad news it will never go back on at the exact...
