My neighborhood is experiencing a crime wave. Seems that two upstanding lowlifes are out a looting at night. People are leaving their cars unlocked and or their garage doors open at night. They open an unlocked car and get the garage opener and open the door a couple feet so they can crawl in and take whatever they can. They have even gone into homes late at night while people are sleeping. Averaging about one looting a night. One of my neighbors caught them on his servailance system trying his front door at 3am and then heading to the house next door. These morons dont realize that this is a well armed neighborhood and its only a matter of time. We do have a good castledoctrine law in place now. Cops are patrolling the hell out of the hood and are asking to be called for any little thing that doesnt look right. Cops say these are crimes of opportunity since they don't break and enter. Everyplace has been open or unlocked.Last one was about 5 houses away. Car unlocked and door opener in it. I'm probably safe as a mouse cant fart outside without the dogs making a racket. I was talking to one of the neighbors out in my driveway the other night showing him my Mossberg 500 tactical setup when a patrol car drove by. Just smiled and waved. Told the neighbor the Mossberg is my tool of choice for cleaning the house and he wanted to see it. Always willing to offer up some advice so someone can make an informed decision on the proper tools/toys to get. Later.

Interesting. Same type of thing was on the news as happening in the small town in Texas where we have a house. No B&E but they get into unlocked vehicles, etc and steal anything of value. In Texas you can use deadly force to protect your property too. Probably not a long career for these morons.

Summer time tends to be worse with kids out of school as sometimes bored kids start doing this, along with the "typical" criminals. My condos usually have one set of break-ins with the vehicles each year.

Lol, I was forced here when I was 13 due to my dads job transfer. 7 years later I still haven't left. Not sure when or if I will...this place is a damn mess though! Only positive thing going for it is the trails. We have a wide variety and a lot of trails. After that its a huge drop off into a pool of negatives.

California is a mess and only going to get worse.The liberals can't stop themselves from spending and are about out of places to draw more revenue. They keep putting tax and bond issues up every year, they refuse to address the structural issue that cause the state to be chronically broke and anyone that lives in California and has a job is going to bear the cost of this unrestrained government spending spree. Outside of the weather there isn't much going on in California that is very appealing.

Same thing happened here last summer. They got caught when it was noticed their truck was parked on the back side of a church in the middle of the night - when another break-in happened. Not sure all the details, just that an older woman who's back yard backed up to the church parking lot called the police which led to their arrest. Turned out to be a father and son from the "old" part of our neighborhood. Scumbags, all of them.

Its true...I will never call myself a Californian I will always be a new yorker at heart (not sure if that's better or worse lol) out here it's sad to see these kids grow up without giving a damn and having the entitled attitude. It all starts with family and I will be damn sure mine don't grow up like that. morals, ethics and a general sense of doing what's right has been thrown out the window around here and that won't be tolerated with me as a dad.

Dave, on the topic of "unfair" ill tell you what's unfair...the fact that you and probably many others on this forum will work from january to july and not keep a single dollar of that. It will go to the lazy ass on the couch and then you need to listen to these knuckleheads say your not paying your fair share. That's "unfair."

Chris, I am only too aware of when the time rolls around each year that I get to start keeping what I earn. Fair in too many people's eyes is that someone else picks up their tab.
