What years will the trans interchange

I was hoping a resident expert may chime in by now but from the searches I've done I can tell you the 4l60e from the 5cyl and 8cyl are different (bellhousing and torque converter). If the engines are the same from the various H3 years than I haven't been able to find a reason why they wouldn't work.

Are you debating swapping in a functioning one vs the price of a rebuild?

I was debating because I had found a really low miles trans from an 06, but I just decided to get mine rebuilt with some better parts. Maybe that'll help it's longevity considering the 35s.

I think the 08 up 4l60e are different as they have an Input speed sensor. They also work with a standalone tcm (t42) while the earlier H3s (06/07) interfaced differently.

But 100% the I5 and V8 models are totally different. Not just the bell housing and torque converter, but the input shafts are different as well as several other items that allow the trans to accept the torque converter.

If you look at 4l60e from different vehicles, be sure to swap the oil pan from the h3 as its very specific for clearance issues.

06 and 07 transmission assemblies are different as well. 07 has a different or additional speed sensor, I believe. I had an 06 in my 07 and it had to be pulled out and have the new sensor put in place.

Picked mine up from the transmission shop today. Pretty quick turnaround. Feels good so far. Also found out 07 and 08 will interchange
