So, I've been driving for over 27 years. Never been in an accident. Today was the 3rd time I've ever hit anything.
1st time, 17 or 18 years old, was backing out of a bay at a mechanic shop and turn the wheel too sharp while looking backwards. Clipped the trim around the bay door with the corner of my bumper. A friend and the mechanic watched me do it, embarrassing at the time.
2nd time a couple years later.. Long story short - doing 55mph going into a 15mph corner on a very tight twisty road - pedal to the floor, brakes went completely out. Cliff with guard rail on one side, rock wall on the other. Slammed second gear and drifted MOST of the way around the corner. Barely clipped the same front corner of the bumper about 3/4 through the turn, spun me 270* and came to a stop in the middle of the road. Golf ball sized dent. Me crapping (not literally) in my pants.
Today, parked in the ex wives parking spot picking up my kids. Crappy apt with a cram packed parking lot, and I typically have to park less than 6 inches from a pole near my rear passenger wheel. I also have to back out at a slight angle to avoid a multi-point turn to get out of the lot. Well, the kids were distracting me and I guess I either turned too sharp or parked closer to the pole than I thought because as I looked at the side mirror to see where the pole was I hit it. A good 8" scrape on my slider right below the rear passenger door. Little bit of bedliner and it will be as good as new. Apparently I AM a dumbass at times.
The sliders have already paid for themselves.
