Since I'm new here, I guess I should introduce myself.

I go by Portager on line but my real name is Mike. Funny, nobody ever asked me the significance of "portager".

I own a completely stock 2009 H3T Alpha with the off road package, which I bought in January 2010. O, it isn't quite stock, the dealer replaced the stock wheels and tires with 20" chrome wheels and 32" A/T tires.

My wife and I use the T for rock hunting. We decided since we are getting so old we should only hunt things that are slower than us. On good days we also hunt snails and slugs since desert tortuous were illegalized. WHO KNEW!

My objective is to improve the off road capability of my T and learn to wheel it better so we don't get stuck in the desert and die of heat frustration because then the volchers would pick my bones clean and my kids would get my T!

Looking forward to meeting alls y'all and learning to wheel my T!

Probably not. My daughter moved out of one of my houses and I need to clear it out and sell/rent it.

Ok, so what's the significance? Do you canoe a lot?

Actually, my dream is to acquire the largest Ocean going powerboat I can get which will be "transportable", which we can use locally throughout the year and ship to distant cruising grounds for vacations. I've been known as Portager on the boat forums for 15 years, so why change now?

I define "transportable" as a boat that can be shipped over land economically, with minimal preparation (no structural modifications), only requiring oversized load permits and no pilot car. To avoid pilot car requirements, which almost double the transport cost, the boat must be under the legal height limit (14' in most Western states, but 13' 6" back East) and under 12' beam. Portager is currently an unfulfilled dream, because I'm waiting for my daughter to finish school and get a job. So, while we wait, we decided to get a H3T and hunt rocks.

Better stipulate that it can't be stripped or crushed with me in it ... I want to be in the driver’s seat with the transfer case in 4 wheel low lock with both differentials locked and a full tank of gas so I ready for the zombie attack.

Better watch out if you see a zombie driving an H3T Alpha!
