Time for another small update.

I reached 50,000 miles last month and decided to do the fluid changes myself. While I was changing the diff fluid it seemed like a great time to install some protection for the dif cover.

I decided to go with the Purple Cranium Half Spider.

After going on my first Gold Mountain trip back in April of last year it become very apparent that the factory rear shock mounts needed to go. I would constantly get hung up on them in the rocks. Luckily there was a group buy for the tomp low profile shock mounts going on at about the same time. After months of waiting for enough people to join and then the manufacture time the mounts arrived in November of '11. At which point the sat in a box waiting to be installed. Today I finally got around to it,

The added clearance of tomp's is great even better though they will slide over the rocks instead of getting hung up.

Tomps lo profile shock mounts are badass! If I didnt get the deavers I would of never done a spring over as these provided the clearance needed. These are the best solution in the bolt on category and it sucks they arent around anymore...

It is shame they are not around anymore the quality of them is great. They were pricey but with how much a hindrance the stock hangers are they were worth it in my opinion. The last group buy for these struggled to get enough people to have a batch made though.

After fighting it for over a year I finally gave in and decided to do a performance mod. While I have enjoyed the ox cart performance the 3.7 has to offer I was beginning to feel bad for motorists stuck behind me. Somehow I was able to snag a deal on a used Airdoc posted up by supersapper-rpm. Finally it pays off always being on H4O. It also seemed liked a good time to upgrade the filter to an AFE prodry and clean the throttle body and MAF. What a difference the 3.7 no longer sounds like an asthmatic weasel but a normal engine.

Thanks to 08SolarFlareH3 for answering some of my install questions. As well as Boerwarrior for writing the how to thread on TB and MAF cleaning.

I wish I had done the mod a few days early for my trip up to mammoth. The steep grades would have been less of a struggle and I wouldn't have to hear the asthmatic weasel screaming the whole way up. Here are a few pictures from the trip.

Nice pictures! I like the way the yak matches the 3. You even found black tiedown straps to match the black trim.

Very nice nacho! Glad to see the gobi gettin some good use, love your 3. I'm still kicking myself for not getting in on those tomp's, hopefully i can get on the new schwartzy low profile shock mounts order. Oh and i'm keeping the 3 :thumbs:

Wow, I really like your H3. So much so that I might model this build for mine over the next year or so. I already have an H3x, so the color matched grille is there. You've inspired me to plastidip my chrome brush guard. I do also want to plastidip my mirrors, door handles, and parts of my wheels (that should be fun). Do you mind copy cats? Haha, just kiddin, I wouldn't steal all of your ideas.

Thanks, glad i was able to inspire your build. Im looking forward to seeing your progress especially with your trucks color. It is my favorite H3 color.

It has been a while since I have updated this and have some catching up to do.

I took Hunner's advice and swapped out the fog lights for some brighter H10 bulbs.



Also picked up an LED light bar from Ron46's Friend (offroadledbars.com).



And on to my favorite mod so far. I had been wanting to get the OEM roof marker light kit from the day I picked up the 3 but had put it off to get more practical upgrades. When the time came to order them they were sold out everywhere and going for exorbitant amounts on ebay. After all hope was lost I get a text about an ebay listing with multiple sets at decent prices. Sadly though by the time I saw the text they were all sold. Luckily Corey (08solarflare) knew I was looking for them and was able to grab an extra set for me. Its people like this that make H40 a great community and I owe Corey a big Thanks.
