A dealer by me ordered this to replace the junk one that came with my Rough Country winch. Made in USA and high quality. 52 bucks .

The next size up is rated at 18K. I think you will be fine with the 10K one. High end rigging is typically good for 20% over. I do a lot of crane work and sometimes some Helicopter lifts. Made in China isn't allowed on heavy lift jobs. I would think you would have to anchor your 3 if you had a True 12K on the line. That's when you start having a hard time opening and closing your doors. Just my opinion. I understand why people go with 12k on light trucks, lower amp draw, better gear ratio ect.

Yeah, it's just a Harbor Freight 12K, I got it for $200 during a parking lot sale and it was also an open box item. For $200 it's a fine little winch until I can afford something nicer. Haven't used it much really, though I did pull myself and a 2004 Chevy Suburban up a 20-30 degree hill last year, at the same time. I was going up to my parent's new place they are living at which is up in a canyon, it was snowy, they got stuck, so I went around them to try and pull them up with a strap, but by me stopping and then trying to move again, I was stuck as well (this was before I got the Duratrac's). so I left them hooked up with the strap and hooked onto a tree up the hill and pulled us both at the same time. Not a huge testament, but with a 12K I wasn't worried about doing it.

I just like over rating my gear when I can, call it paranoia.
