Not as much as I used to. My dad is in a lease down near Pecan Island. I usually make a hunt or two with him, usually in January though. Where are you hunting at, marsh or rice fields?
We used to have a decent duck population at our property in Mississippi, my family owns about 2,000 acres, but the guy next to us owns about 25 or 30,000 acres and decided he was going to flood a good portion of the low areas of his property for some pay hunts and we quickly saw our duck population dwindle.
We are hunting rice fields in Ville Platte. I didn't get to hunt today but my buddy was able to make it out to our blind. He limited out in 15 minutes. Here are pics from Saturday and Sundays hunt.
Only got 2 teal Saturday morning and 3 on Sunday. Teal season ends next weekend but i won't be able to make it. Now for the month and half long wait until the big duck season in Nov.
Dove and Quail are the only birds I hunt. With the drought out West the bird populations aren't really doing very well. Plenty of dove in Central Texas and the quail are starting to come back but not real plentiful yet.
I love dove hunting. It's actually my favorite to eat. I canceled my Texas dove hunting trip bc my buddy said he didn't have any birds on his property. Hopefully I'll be able to make a hunt later in the year.
Tons of dove around me. I usually do opening day out West of AZ. Major flyways. I usually do opening day of quail season in the Piute Mountains in eastern CA.
