How To Organize a Tool Chest?

Hey guys, I got a question for you all.
But first...... My wife bought this new tool chest for me. It's a stainless steel Kobalt chest. Not bad! Gots lots of drawers that run on ball bearings. Smooth! Built pretty rugged. The reason..... She bought it so I would pick up my shop. :lol:
Anyway, the question is:
How would you organize these drawers? I think I know how I'm going to organize my chest. I've asked some of my buds just for kicks. You wouldn't believe how that question stirred things up! Everyone was arguing on the best way to organize a tool chest.
What's your theory on organizing an eleven drawer tool chest?

It deserves a trailer of its own with a pintle hitch. You organize them like you they organize and stock shelves at the super market - most popular items at arm's reach or eye level. Although you may have to pack a step stool to reach the top drawers of that tool chest or tools that you rarely use.

Label outside drawers with sticker or magnet stickers, of what's in the draw on a basic level. Screwdrivers draw, sockets draw, pliers draw, etc...

I have a similar chest. The very top I have all my punches, picks, etc. First actual drawer is nut drivers, screwdrivers and things of that sort, second drawer is all my ratchets, impact gun sockets and extensions, next 3 drawers I bought a bunch of those socket holders from harbor freight for a few bucks. Each drawer in the middle has each driver size-1/4, 3/8, 1/2 sockets. Last of my smaller drawers I have my multimeters, continuity tester, test lights, jumper wires, etc. You kinda get the idea from there I'd imagine.

If I knew how to organize mine I'd tell you. I do keep mine somewhat separated - screwdrivers in one drawer, sockets and socket wrenches in another, wrenches i the next, pneumatic tools in one of the large drawers and everything else in the other large drawer (smaller tool box than yours). What I really need to do is organize my garage. Put up a peg board and move a bunch of stuff out of the tool chest and onto the wall as well as add more shelving and re-organize everything. The whole "a place for everything and everything in it's place" idea falls apart when you don't have convenient storage for everything.

Almost the same as mine!

All similar items together. Sockets and ratchets in one drawer, wrenches in one, ratcheting wrenches in one, screwdrivers, misc, etc. whatever makes sense to you is the way to do it.

Forgot to mention, Harbor Freight also carries a great wrench holder. It's pretty large but will fit perfect in a larger drawer. It will hold the majority of sizes for both standard and metric. It also has a bunch of places for allen wrenches. Give that a look also!

You need to have a wife that puts tools back to do that... I don't, so I won't (especially since she isn't convinced I should be able to buy replacement tools to replace what she lost out of her "fun" budget).
