What a hell is happening to our education???

-- Ryan Rotela is (or was) a junior at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, when he was suspended because he refused to write Jesus’ name on a paper taped to the ground and then stomp on Christ’s name.

Currently, he is authoring the book, Obamamania: The Rise of a Mythical Hero, This local Democrat leader and molder of young minds may believe that Obama is the true deity – a socialist Godhead — making Poole’s classroom exercise an effort to demean any God figures other than Obama.

The average person is as smart as was educated. And this "Professor" is not an average.
If all what you will be taught is how to be a brainwashed-stupid-idiot-zombi, most likely you will become one.

Looks like the school came to it's senses. No action against the student, clean record, and can finish the class remotely. And they apologized to the kid.

I would disagree, the teacher was not fired. This is all part of that indoctrination thing that we discussed on the other thread. Anyone want to bet that they would not allow this if the name had been Mohammed instead of Jesus? How about the name Obama?

They apologized after being pressed by the lowers and long list of charges. But, like Paladins said, no one was fired.

I'll admit that I have only very superficially read about this but why do you feel the teacher should have been fired?

I think the teacher's actions are ridiculous, just as it is ridiculous to penalize the student in any way. but don't the teacher's actions fall under his right's to free speech? -Or to teach his students what he thinks is important?

I don't see anything wrong with it. Likely this was an exercise to foster discussion. I would also assume that the student wasn't expelled from the class but rather told he didn't have to go to the class if he didn't like how the instructor was teaching it.

If it indeed was a somewhat provocative lesson taught with the purpose of fostering discussion then I think it's a good thing honestly, but I'd love to hear the school or teacher's point of view in this matter. Unfortunately that is likely never happening.
