Elbe Hills is an OHV park that's owned by the State of Washington and encourages rampant and wonton driving in an off-road setting.

Elbe (elle bee) is a mostly train town that does tourist trains during the summer - it was out meeting point


Once at the park, mud was properly applied


directions were given to the Jeep guy (whose streak of breaking nothing came to an unfortunate end with a transmission getting a stick through it on the highway home...)


twas a nice day - our fearless leader was a local in an FJ... you might recognize his rig from the snow pictures


he got stuck, hummers were employed and pictures taken




Of course, karam being a b*tch - payback came around the corner


a mirror and perhaps a chinaman knocked off a dock in China were the only casualties... was a deep hole, but the badness was that root you see by the rear wheel. Had it not been there, this would have been easy.

What's you take on a H2 in there? I've always heard it's short wheel base only. But I also heard that about Evans Creek, and I wheeled almost all the trails there.

Anything could be done, but it's really narrow. The picture of the Jeep doing that off-camber point or one I'll have to post later - there's ditch which the Jeep was almost touching on both sides (which is an access point) would be really tough if not impossible for the wider H2. As far as turning, I think the H2 has a better turning circle than a 4 door JK; so I don't think that would be the issue....

I hope you didn't eat at the train restaurant... Ate there a couple years ago, the "fresh smoked" monte cristo sandwich was frozen in the middle, my buddy had a foot-long hair in his potato salad, and there was a guy doing lines of coke in the bathroom...

That's too bad! I went there about 12 years ago and food was great and it seemed to be family run.

I learned something - apparently Elbe has a width restriction.... 80" from outside of the tire to outside of the tire. I saw full-size trucks around - so I don't know how enforced it is, but the trails are pretty narrow....

still, a lot of fun (and H3s are 74-78" depending on how you measure it)...
