Off road evo posted this on facebook. I figure its gotta have some truth, they have an "in" with jeep engineering when they helped design the Jeep FC concept.

So IFS/IRS, a non removable top, I figure wrangler guys are gonna flip if its true.

So, long travel ifs will become cheaper and mainstream OR SAS kits will be hitting an all time high lol

Interested to see the turnout on this.

I like that top picture. It will take a lot of Jeep people a long time to get used to such a radical departure from current Jeep design. Hell I am still getting used to the new tail lights on the new Corvette.

Who knows, they may make high dollar KOH type IFS kits.

I agree, I have a feeling most long time wrangler fans dont like change. Each model they come out they say isnt a real jeep but this one may put them over the edge.

There's no way there wouldn't be a removable top.

I remember on one of our John Bull trips when Seth was with us. We were pulled over fixing Zach's broken half shaft when the line of old CJs went by. Guy asked me if our group was all Hummers.I said no and pointed out Seth's YJ and he said "that ain't no Jeep. Jeeps only have 2 doors. ":) I got a good laugh out of that.

Lol yep. JK guys will say the next jeep isn't a real jeep because it's ifs/irs and the TJ guys argued that JKs aren't real jeeps because it's got 4 doors and YJ guys say TJs aren't real jeeps because real jeeps don't have coil springs then CJ guy says YJs aren't real jeeps because real jeeps have circle headlights and the willys guys say can argue real jeeps were used in the military lol

I like the top picture too. I've never understood why loyalists are so against change when it come to vehicles. I'm all for improvement and advances in technology for off roading that make it easier for people to get into the sport.

I think it's cool that they are looking in to new technology and new designs but..... really reminds me a lot of that other brand of off road trucks.... what's the name again.... Oh I know: HUMMER!!! :hans:

Some say H3s aren't "real" hummers but I point out the Hummer logo at various locations on the vehicle. I'm pretty sure it's real ;)

People that say the h2s and H3s are real hummers because they classify the h1s as real hummers, but are not educated as to how capable the h2s and h3s really are!

If only I could get around to inventing this portal axle bolt-on for the H3 if this is true about the wranglers. Just might be in the right place at the right time.

i've heard this rumor before, and at first i didn't like it. but, wranglers that actually go off road and mall crawlers are kind of like v6 camaros and v8 camaros - if it wasn't for the people that buy them with no intention of going off road, they wouldn't sell enough to justify having the model. That's why so many off road vehicles have become less and less capable - so ms. soccer mom will buy one.

now, obviously, the jeep crowd will flip out so hard if this happens. they flip out if you so much as change the headlight shape on a jeep (i agree with the sentiment that the wrangler crowd can be somewhat exclusive, I had a cherokee and i felt a bit looked down on).

However, they could think about it this way - unless you're adding a long arm lift or some other radical suspension, IFS/IRS is going to perform about as well as the stock solid axle. the H3 suspension is flexier than the non-rubi JKU from the factory. the people that are going to actually use the increased articulation are going to be adding larger axles anyways. obviously SAS kits are going to pop up everywhere, so people are just going to SAS/long arm lift their wranglers all at once. so, really, independent suspension will have very little effect on the serious off-roader. of course, the jeep crowd will freak out and act like its the end of world.

on the upside for non-jeepers, IFS/IRS technology is going to progress some, so there's that. I still with solid axles were more widely available, but that's me. I seriously doubt any IRS will ever be as capable as a good solid axle. i'm happy to be proven wrong, though.

I'm saying there is a conspiracy happening here...

First.... fiat buys out the rest of Chrysler foe 5.34 billion dollars

Second....Chrysler calls for the destruction of 90 some pre production viper models

Third....Chrysler halts production of the srt viper

Fourth....a rumor of independent suspension on jeeps pops up

What the hell is going on with Chrysler corporation???
