A $4k trans and maybe $500/year in maintenance.
Guess how much a replacement vehicle is going to cost you? $25k? $35k? New...$75k?
Just sell it as is if you don't want to spend the money to fix. Someone will grab it from you and have the trans rebuilt.
We live in such a throwaway society.
Often, it's that gasket above the oil filter. I.e. where those two bolts are holding onto that one thing (forgot what it's called).

my alpha with 170k miles seems pretty sluggish.
about 40k miles on a Jasper reman engine the PO put in.
no codes, but I'm thinking cats are clogged.

The PO of my rig said the newly rebuilt trans wouldn't shift.
After numerous visits to the trans shop, he said what fixed it was new battery terminals.
Apparently the H3 is very sensitive to low voltage and can wreak all kinds of havoc...
man, total cost is approaching $1k.
I took all the parts (except the adapter) to the driveshaft shop. told them I wanted a total length collapsed, center of the end u-joint, at 29".
adapter fits perfectly.
