SEPTEMBER 13-15, 2013
LAND OPS / MONACHE MEADOWS

Here's three minutes of our pre-event recon in Monache Meadows.
This video is a preview of the event area scheduled for Sept 13-15, 2013
A Land Ops advancing team scouted the area, reviewed the trails and began preparing for the September operations.

Pre-event advancing team consisted of H3 Hummer (Serge), Land Rover Biram), Wrangler (Chris- Land Ops 1), Rubicon (Zeev), FJ Cruiser x 2 (Kenny, Dan), and a Cherokee (Michael, Ironman 4x4)

This is a free event. Sign up for Land Ops membership at the club meetup site

There are three things we do at Land Ops;
1.) Offroad driving & vehicle recovery
2.) Navigation & orienteering
3.) Radio & signal communications

This recon involved a remote radio call for help. The Land Rover experienced a catastrophic suspension failure due to damaged lift sensors.
It had to be trucked out on a flat bed. The Bird Spring repeater did the job and thanks to W6TOD who forwarded the call to the proper services.

Mike, Ham license is NOT required, but bring an FRS so you can intercomm with other vehicles. We break up into four teams usually with 4-8 vehicles per team.
Communication within your team is very beneficial. Plenty of hams for longer distance comms. Join us

So if any one is interested in this run I'll be going with LandOps and we'll be doing Sherman Pass Trail on Sunday.
