Does anyone in the PNW area have a welder I'm wanting to make a rack for jerry cans on my back door and I'm an E3 in the navy living on base so I don't really have anywhere to make it myself I would much rather do it as a project than just pay someone else to build me stuff I like to do all the work on my own or with friends it wasn't ever a problem for me at home in Texas with all the resources under the sun I'm just really limited up here it's kinda frustrating at times

Let me know if you can help in anyway I don't mind a commute for a weekend project and I'm all for making upgrades to the hummer

I am in a similar boat as you, but when I moved a month ago I did bring my Flux core welder.... I can see Oak Harbor on a clear night but it's a bit more tricky to get up to me with the ferry ride and boarder crossing and all.

If you can't find anything your welcome to come to Victoria, but all I have is a back yard and hand tools so it would be weather dependent and very basic

I'll do it only if I can talk to your master sergeant.... KIDDING. When do you want to have it welded? Sundays are best for me, but I can make most times happen.

I was just talking about the Jets last weekend, I haven't heard them yet (which surprised me), but I have been told that they land at some of the airports on the island.... So they must I just haven't been in the right place at the right time I guess

So I've been thinking about it a lot since this I've actually found somewhere to build this and I'm really thinking about a roof rack over the back door rack I mean I'm not gonna use jerry cans that much and if I did I could throw them on the roof with other stuff the rack for the back door would strictly be for the cans and nothing else

How long did it take to build you guys roof racks and how much did you spend on the material

I spent 200$ on steel but i'd round up to 300$ for misc, then it took me about two months working on it a bit every weekend.

My material was about $200 as well, I payed a shop $100 to make the bends in the material and consumables cost me another $50 (already had a bunch from previous projects)

There was a Marine on this forum Griff that adapted a HMMWV MFC rack to his H3. It was any better than the one I had custom made. These are the only pics I have.
