I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to the members here, especially the SoCal group.

After leading the 2N17X portion of the latest SoCal run, I was approached by many members with some very kind words. I am far from being a natural leader but I have strong passion for wheeling and want to share it with others. The appreciation from others has been the best motivation for me to continue as the chapter president and give me the desire to do better.

We have become a family in SoCal and we are continuing to grow. I have made some great friends here and always look forward to the next run so we can see each other again.

To top things off, Alex joined us in Cleghorn and had some great words to share about our group. I can't express how happy I was to hear that we (SoCal) have a great reputation.

None of this would have happened without the backing of Dave (3Hummers) and Zach. Dave is responsible for dragging me out for my first run with a group in Big Bear where I loosened the padding on the top of my steering wheel from white-knuckling the entire run. Zach did his first run with us in Bishop last year and has not missed a run since then. Zach's devotion is what led me to request him as the vice president. He has been a big help in keeping me on track with future events.

Once again, thank you everyone for making H4O a great place!

Craig you took to wheeling like a duck to water. It has been a blast watching your skills and confidence grow. I always look forward to our runs and hate it when I have to miss one. We are lucky in that we have a great and active group. The contributions of you and Zach have been key but the group itself is fantastic also. The members are simply the best.

Craig is a great chapter president! I want to thank Craig for taking me out back in september of 2010 at last chance canyon and teaching me how to wheel. None of these of wonderful experiences would have happened without him, especially at bishop. My parents were worried about me driving 4-5 hours alone and spending the weekend in bishop but he really made them feel like I was in good hands and nothing bad would happen.

Thanks again to Craig and the rest of the socal members. Look forward to a great future with you guys

Too bad we didn't cross paths when I was living in Cali. I was always trying to find other Hummer owners to go out with. Never worked out.

We are very fortunate to live in Southern California where there are so many great areas for off roading, a great group of people to off road with and Craig and Zach to keep things organized and interesting. Thanks for all the work you do!

I still have a lot to learn and each trip is still an education. I had some issues seeing the line on the entry to 2N17X. Several people told me what the best was and I just couldn't see it for some reason. Once I took the track, I had a total face-palm moment. Serge also had to run up and help me on a different part of the same trail.

I have more fun watching others drive which is why I think not too many people are quick to volunteer to lead a run. However, the gratitude at the end of the run is great, especially when people immediately ask when the next run is scheduled. That is the sign of the off-roading hook deeply embedded in their cheek!

It was a great day on the trails last Saturday. You and Zach did a great job leading and supporting the group, staying in communication with everyone and not allowing anyone to feel left out or unsupported. You each are great examples of H4O leadership in your Chapter President and Vice President roles.

We all miss lines sometimes. Many times I see the best line but take a different line for the challenge/fun factor. Sometimes I pick a line and it turns out not to be the best and you deal with. Best way to enhance your driving skills is to take those chances in bite size portions and learn as you go. As long as I have been doing this I still make mistakes but they usually turn out to have a pretty cool fun factor attached to them.( and they usually make the best photo ops also. ):)

Craig you are doing a great job and thank you for having me on my first trip in Bishop. Ever since then, I've had the itch. I have learned a lot since that trip from you and the group and keep on learning. This is a great group we have here on the forum especially in So Cal. Seems like we keep getting bigger and bigger. The turnouts we have had have been huge the last few trips. I would like to thank everyone for that and their support. Just glad that I can help out with planning the runs and keeping the So Cal group active.

Being able to see, or visualize, a line is something I have found to be an acquired skill that only comes with experience. For the first many runs I had *no* clue why the run leader would pick certain lines and place their wheels like they did, but I stuck with it and all of a sudden found myself thinking "Oh, look, if I put my wheels there....." -Mind you, this does not mean the lines I see actually work, LOL!

Just keep wheeling, keep having fun and all of a sudden you will see the lines.... -And like Dave said, no-one does this perfectly all the time.

Next time you are out wheeling and encounter an obstacle, try visualizing the track width of your truck. Imagine where the wheels might be and what that would do to the truck in terms of grip, clearance and off-camber angles. Talk to some of your fellow wheelers and ask what lines they think work, and why. Most obstacles have more than one line.

I want to say thanks to Craig, Zach and Dave for running SoCal group and when "Mr. President" needs some more "encouragement" I'll be there.
