I am about to pull the trigger on this kit in the coming days:
http://truckandwinch.com/recon-10-500-lbs-premium-winch-kit.html

The price point will allow me to snag up some other items for my mod list like hunner skids, air compressor, tire deflators and some ucp. I've read many great reviews on it and just need to do some more research before I pull the trigger. Also,

I found these pictures during my search:

Also, their customer service has received good reviews backed with a 3yr warranty!

That is the winch I have on my H2, and I love it! You just can't beat the price, and it comes with the synthetic line, hawse, and wireless remote. My experience with their service was very good.

I have had it for about a year, and have used it several times. It is very quiet and does not heat up fast. The wireless remote works out to 100' before it becomes intermittent. The wireless remote has one quirk, in that there is a delay in stopping when you release the button. When you release it the winch keeps going for about a second.

Overall, the winch looks great, is very compact compared to some other winches, lighter than most others, and has a faster line speed and lower amp draw than similar name brand winches.

I usually am one to stick with name brand stuff, but in this case I am glad I took the chance. This is one of those few items that will really surprise you.

Here is a link to my thread on mounting it: http://www.hummer4x4offroad.com/forum/showthread.php?967-My-custom-H2-winch-mount

Here are a couple videos of the first two times I used it:

What winch mount do you have planned?

I already have one, it's sitting on my hottub keeping the cover down lol. I bought it used and was told it's from Argentina? It resembles a CBphoto highmount.

So glad to hear this! I was hoping someone with experience owning one would chime in! Thank you for making my decision easier!

Have you considered the new VR series from Warn? You can get the VR10000 for $523.44 Shipped (vs $534.38). You won't be getting any of the accessories (tree strap, snatch block, wireless remote, cover or shackles) but they have a lifetime warranty vs 3yr warranty. They are also made (or at least assembled) in the USA vs China. Warn has great CS and parts availability as well. Just throwing this out there for you to consider because I can't personally comment on the Recon.

Use promo code CC5OFF to bring the price to $523.44 Shipped

X3

What I do agree with the OP is that he chose a winch that is appropriate to the weight of the vehicle. Hummers are right on the limit of most 9000 lb winches. Those winches are generally design for vehicles like Wranglers and not something like a Hummer. Will they work on a Hummer? Yes. Will they last long if you use them regularly. Probably not.

I guess I was looking to try something that is different and who knows....would possibly stack up to the others. I have had Warn in the past on all my atv's and agree they are great units. I believe Recon is from Australia??? I might be wrong tho? Also, it comes with rope and not cable which I prefer to have.

I am still on the fence though, thans for that info/code as I will def. be reviewing other winches.

This is a reply I saw from Truck & Winch on another forum
The winch is made in the same place that most winches are made, China. Even the bigger US brands are having many of the parts made in China and then assembling and boxing them locally, so that they are legally able to say made in USA.

Our winch is engineered in Australia to very high standards and the Quality Control in the factory is also very impressive, therefore the overall quality of this winch is amazing, and that’s why we offer a 3 year warranty. If you were to have any trouble, we would replace the faulty part instead of trying to repair it.

The reason ours cost so much less than the other $1000 + winches is because you are purchasing direct from the manufacturer. If we were to sell this winch to a distributor, who then sells to a wholesaler and then to a retailer and each middle man added on 30% - 50% mark up you’d be right back at over $1000.
