2008 H3 Alpha 130,00ish miles.
Son is off to somewhere non-disclosed. Parked on the street, HOA on my ass to move it. Battery died, swapped with known good batt, terminals replaced with pinned and soldered connections with 0 corrosion.

Still absolutely dead, ignition key trapped (Passlock?), no sparking at all when connecting the negative as if there is no connection.

I let it sit and still got nothing.

HELP!!!!
Thanks!

Matt

And,

Is there a shifter lock bypass? If so, where and how please?

Might just try and get it in the driveway if I can’t get tit started.

Thanks!

Thanks,

finally just pulled my truck up and put the jumper cables on it. Everything came back to life. Turns out my “good” extra battery must have just been showing a surface charge of 12.6 volts. Once it jumpstarted I let it idle while I cleaned it up and drove it on the highway a bit. Parked it at the back of the drive way shut it off. Flat dead and trapped ignition key again. Now my good extra battery shows 1.4 volts, it showed 12.6 when I hooked it up. Very odd, but the HUMMER ran perfectly the entire time. Very odd!

It does have a bit of parasitic drain I need to chase down before I ruin another battery by letting it sit too long.

Good thing the boy won’t be home for a few more months! I’ve got several projects to complete before it’s ready for his return.

Later!

Matt

The old OnStar system is a known drain. It is no longer supported, so pulling the fuse will help. The rear wire loom between the bumper and hitch is another known problem for chafing wires.

I have my electrical draws down to where I only need to drive the truck once or twice a week and itll be fine. Biggest one was physically disconnecting the onstar module and something else behind the radio. That alone took care of 80% of my draw issues.

Your good Battery is defective, When your key is stuck in the ignition that is GM's way of telling you your battery is dead = 11.9V or less.

Open the back tailgate door, look between the bumper and chassis/frame for the wire going to the License Plate light, they are known to rub through the insulation and ground out killing your battery. Couple three times of that, and your "new" battery is toast.

Good luck

Yeah, I figured that out. Read 12.6 volts when I put the “good battery” in. After I jumped it and ran it a few hours I checked it again and it was 1.6 volts. I’ve never seen that before.

I’ll check that rear door wire passage for chafing.

Thanks!

PS why “Doc Olds”?

While everybody and their brother were playing with Camaros, Chevelles, Pontiacs, Mopars, Mustangs etc... I did something different. Kinda like running an H3 instead of a Jeep. 😉

Kinda figured! I have a 68 442 convertible project in the garage. You the same Doc Olds from ROP? It’s a shame that crashed and lost all of that institutional knowledge.

I had a 68 442 Vert, Black and White. Loved that thing. Had to let it go about 14 years back to a guy from out of town.

Different Doc Olds, but we are digressing......
