Alright guys, I have been posting and asking newbie questions a lot, but I still feel like I have no grasp on my truck and how it's been fabricated. I want to learn, so I'm asking everyone here to help me out.

I can post as many pictures as possible so....is there anything that I can post up specifically that would help in figuring out my build? thanks.

What are you trying to figure out? What a part is? What upgrade to make? Don't understand your question.

Mine is almost stock, but I'll help where I can. :)

Well I have the White SAS hummer. I know a lot of people were interested in how it was put together since there aren't a lot of em on the road. I've already found out I have an unpopular steering setup. I just want to figure out what my D44 came out of, gear ratios, and just learn about how the frame was changed to account for the axle and such.

Cool, I like how u wanna learn

Let's start with the basics and go from there. I can describe most of it but Bebe, speedy, maxPF 4speedfunk, hunner and a few others can go in more depth.

Do you understand the basics of the stock front suspension of the H3 and the pros and cons of independent vs solid?

Not really to be honest. I always thought that the independent suspension was favorable since each wheel could flex/bend independently from the others in rigid terrain. But I have learned that solid axles tend to be a lot stronger. I don't really know what all goes into designing vehicles so I'm not sure how my truck has been manipulated to get it where it's at now.

Well, the most unique part of your truck is the front suspension so a few shots of that would be good. Straight on, suspension mounting points, steering pieces. Independent front suspension (IFS) tends to have much better road manners; solid axles tend to be much better off road as they have great range of travel (flex) and can thus be on the ground more often. Wheels in the air make great photos but don't do much for traction or stability.

The suspension is definitely different. I have bilstein reservoir shocks but I'm not sure the model number. The shock mounts are placed in an unpopular position. Instead of being being attached to a mount directly on the axle shaft, it's attached to a mount on the axle inner c. My steering is also done in an unpopular fashion. Cross over steering with a single heim configuration. The frame has been cut into and heavily reinforced, but the cutting has caused some concern around here. It is equipped with a steering box from a toyota 4 runner. The steering is starting to get loose so I have a replacement box on the way. The work done does look clean though and decently thought out for what it is. It can use some work to fix things, but overall it is performing quite well. I will definitely post some pictures when I can take some during the day.

I've seen a bunch of photos of that truck...going back several owners. Looks like a GM 1/2-ton D44. The steering is a mystery, and so are those crazy looking knuckles. I've never seen any knuckles like yours (with shock mounts on them)...could be something backyard. I've always wondered...Does your ABS-brakes and traction control work? Got any dashlights?
