Isham Canyon

Was checking into a possible Isham Canyon run for you Hummer enthusiasts. This is located in the Slate range near Trona, CA. YouTube vids are out there, check 'em out. I have asked around and the opinion is that an H3 is probably not up to this run, let alone an H2 or H1. I am a relative novice on the capabilities of the H3, so just wanted to ask opinions of those who've done some serious runs, what do you think?

Damn! I like the trail videos. I think an H1 is capable but cant fit and same for the 2. The only vehicle worth giving it a shot, like you said is the H3. Its the smallest to fit on a narrow trail. I am going to show some of my jeep buddies. I wanna give it a try...but would camp out seeing the drive is around 3 hours.

I can see body damage occurring for us and JK's seeing we have longer wheelbases. I wonder if this trail has to be done before winter seeing it seems to be in a flood type setting, kinda like last chance.

For an H3, I would probably require 35s, skids all the way around, sliders, and a locker. That would be all minimum, my lift and spring over would help tremendously but my added track width would hurt me.

After looking at the most recent run, spring of 2012 I would probably take my rack off, my doors, my spare behind the seat and still get body damage.

I was told full skid plates, lockers front and rear and body damage. The limiting factor is the IFS and lack of flex that would cause the body damage. I'm intrigued, with the right experience I believe it's doable. But then again I have limited experience on what an H3 is capable of. Just putting this out there. It's in my backyard

yea I would recommend disconnecting both sway bars. A front locker would help a ton, I would like 37s. beefed up front diff and steering. My jeep buddies are open open or open Limited slip...not sure if they could do it.

I've heard it compared to John Bull. Maybe lets see, Bob Miller extension on the Sleeping Princess run, then we can shoot for Isham ;-)

Yeah, I would definitely consider this to be a Jeep trail.

Camping around Trona? I'll pass. I still have vivid memories of playing football there in my youth. *shudder*

I have to agree with you. I think I could drive your truck through there!

The problem is width even for us 3s. I even think 4dr JKs would suffer damage. They are comprable to 3s in width and length. Ideally this is for 2 door wranglers. I'd still be willing to try it...or walk it first lol if its too crazy then I'd find another trail

The consensus from the locals is body damage is a given in an H3. I'll probably go scout it, but the videos towards the end at this v notch suggest it most likely is unavoidable.

I would agree with Mikkel. Most of it looks very doable for an H1 with just a few places where the width of the H1 just wouldn't work. I would be happy to go along with some of the 3 owners or go walk the trail to see if we could do it.

06 H3 let me know what your jeep buddies think of this. Folks out there don't think of an H3 as a serious 4x4. The H3's attributes might work for it.
