After seeing posts by Chad a while back with a hidden AR15 in the jack space in the rear door got me thinking. Of course I am going to do this too! Already ordered the quick fists for mounts but wanted a project while I waited. Came up with a way to hide a full size 1911 in a Hummer H3 middle console.

Went and got a sheet of 2" thick foam and cut it down to 3 squares measuring 6 1/2" by 5". Although you can make it larger I wanted some space in the back of the console for extra mags or misc crap.

Take the 3 blocks and used Elmer's spray glue to glue them together. Then used a pearing knife to cut a hole just large enough for the barrel In two of the three blocks. I left the bottom one without a hole so the barrel has a resting point.
After that dryed I used synthetic leather to wrap the block and made a slit with an exact knife where the while in the foam was. And WAHLAH! Here's the final result..

Next I'll post the AR15 mount build.

I omitted the foam. I keep a couple boxes of ammo, spare magazines, flashlight and my 1911 in there. The only time the pistol goes in there is if I can't carry where I'm at.

NC is an open carry state so I have a custom made Kydex "holder" that I designed and will install it next to the shifter. I'm also designing a modular system that I can hold either my 870, AR, or UMP on the passenger side of console. It will have exchangeable retention systems for each weapon.

Cortinas316, you can probably add some velcro straps on the inside of the lid and strap some extra cartridges or an extra ammo box

I use to work in the emergency equipment industry for undercover, PD's, and swat. Some of the undercover vehicles we did had some great weapon set ups. Especially if they installed the rear cargo Trunk Vault storage bins in the trunk area.

I was thinking the same thing. That does look good, nice and professional looking.

I agree, I like this idea too! Now for a spot for the extra clip and/or bullet box!

This gun just serves as a backup to my everyday on body carry. My on body I carry an extra magazine for.

Not a lot of point in carrying an extra box of rounds. Not very often you get a lull in a gunfight and have time to crack a fresh box.
