I joined expedition portal a few months ago but never posted until today...There was a good amount of bashing on your trailer build. There will always be haters I guess

Its funny how the thread was started in the trailer section to start talking about trailers, yet it almost instantly turned into a bashing of the Hummer which was not even the main subject behind the post. Haters hate, just gotta prove em wrong.

don't be too hard on those guys -- yes, there is some Hummer hate and a few dicks (every site has them) but most of the guys are pretty serious wheelers and/or rally/expeditioners. If you compare the H2 (let alone this one) to most of the expedition vehicles and purpose built overlanders on the Portal it really doesn't fit in one of their categories. It's over the top and uber-heavy nature gets away from the minimalist "everything serves a purpose" mentality of many people there. Many on the Portal are pretty frugal airmchair explorers (again, every site has them) so the 10's of 1000's spent on a truck that they already deemed unaffordable and horrible off road (due to youtube, soccer moms, rappers and the arrogant and ignorant prciks who they have encountered driving hummers) as well as all the afore mentioned added weight.

I even get bashed when talking about long trips across deserts in my h1. Too heavy, unreliable, requires too much maintenance, no parts/mechanic availability outside of North America, too big for the roads let alone the trails, too expensive, too uneconomical blah blah blah. Are they right? Probably on at least some points...especially for doing the type of expeditions they are usually talking about on that site.

Almost all of the comments about the trailer were positive and several non hummer owners spoke up to try to squash the truck bashing. I have been there for many years and deal with it occasionally...no biggie. If you own a hummer, you have to have a little thicker skin that normal.

The mad max style h2 is a bit flash for my taste, but to each their own -- far be it from me to bash another person's dream truck..especially since he gets out and beats on it -- a HUGE plus in my book. I can certainly appreciate the fab work and the time taken to make it his own. That is a lot of what this hobby is all about!

I quit giving a $hit about what other people thought a long time ago. If you worry about other people too much you don't live your life. Fu&k them, they don't matter.

Wow, people are way too serious on this stuff - there are some angry people on that forum just because something doesn't fit their version of ideal.

IMHO (in my humble opinion), success does breed contempt! It's so easy to judge other people on how and what they do with their hard-earned money. I say, live life the way you decide - no regrets - no looking back - make the most of it - take care of family, yourself & friends first... and don't give a SH&T about what others think of you - because Dave is right - the haters don't matter & they don't give a sh%t about you either! They don't pay your bills or feed your family!
