H3 brake comparison with Toyota

All,

Starting a discussion here regarding the compatibility between H3 brake components and Toyota components.

Below are a series of pictures of the Hummer H3 master cylinder/abs pump compared to a Toyota one. They are nearly identical. I believe Aisin made them for Toyota, and Aisin also made parts for GM, so its not a stretch. The part i am comparing is listed as a part number for a 2009-2013 Toyota Tacoma (P/N 89541-04092), however the 2005-2009 (P/N 89541-35050) looks the same as well. I don't know enough about Toyota generations to know if they are interchangeable or not.
My point with this is....perhaps with some programming, writing the GM code to the computer module, we can use Toyota parts for the ABS pump/master cylinder. The connection to the pedal is a little different, but that would be an easy change.

Reloader/Steve once mentioned off hand in moab, that the front brake calipers are the same as ones found on Toyotas as well. Comparison shot below.
I don't need to replace my master/abs pump, so i can't be a guinea pig at the moment, but if anyone has more knowledge of this or knows if they will work, that would be stellar.
Its probably worth finding other parts that might be compatible

Additionally, I know its hard to see, but the code written on the bottom right of the computer module appears to be the same. Its hard to read on ebay listings, so I cannot say for certain.

Those are very close. Great find!

As time goes on we'll need to be more creative in basic fixes. Atleast we know we'll be able to stop in another decade!

The brake caliper comparison will be easy to do, can get relatively cheap ones on ebay for both models, then its just measuring and possibly fitting them up.

The master cylinder/abs pump will be more difficult, as i think when you replace that with a stock one, you have to have it programmed by gm anyway, so adding a toyota to gm conversion is going to be more difficult.

I do wonder though, if the computer is functioning fine, if you can simply take the old computer off and mount it to the toyota master cylinder/abs pump, from the picture, it would appear that you can. Point being here, you can get toyota parts new much more readily available than h3 ones

Just curious, but why are we trying to reinvent the wheel? It is an interesting observation though.
Mainly just to have a source for parts down the road. At some point, even used h3 parts are going to be so junky they won't be worth the effort of installing them, and remans will stop, junkyards will dry up. So if something else works, why not.
