Would love to have that flex on my H2.

I cant wait for serges H2 SA conversion. I think it will be more offroad friendly then this. Its cool but the COG seems a bit high.

the flex in that pic is hard to achieve with IFS. solid axles are also typically more durable than IFS.

More flex? Sure. But the original Hummer was designed with IFS and IRS. I'm just saying... Isn't that why you buy a Hummer? For the IFS?

Not me. I loved the brand so much I was willing to give the IFS a chance. Not that it's not good, it's just that GM under-designed the whole front end of the H3 and it's too weak.

Looks to me like all the flex is in the rear end... You dont think they could get close to that if they kept the IFS in place w/ the modified rear?

they are lifting the truck from the rear - no reason to believe the front wouldn't flex the same way.

I feel the same way - the front end of the H2 and H3 is pretty weak relative to a solid axle being underneath it.

There is NOTHING you can do to the front end of an IFS GM product to flex it like a low-buck solid axle rig could do. Throw $500 at a TJ for a long-travel lift kit and you can flex out like a sonofabitch.

IFS is the last reason I'd buy a HUMMER. I bought both of my HUMMERS because they are HUMMERS... no other reason. They are really "like nothing else".

IFS is one of the reasons it IS a HUMMER.

I whole-heartily disagree. The suspension on the HMMWV / H1 is nothing like the IFS on the H2/H3. The H2 has 2500HD suspension and the H3 has something similar to the Canyon / Colorado. By your logic any GM truck produced since the 90's is a HUMMER.

The suspension design on the HMMWV is part of what makes it what it is, sure, but there is nothing special about the suspension on the H2/H3.

You know I've never seen a side by side comparison between the H1 and H2 IFS. Are there any writeups on this?

I never said it is the only reason it makes it a Hummer. Don't exaggerate my words here. Why does something have to be "special" in order to make it what it is? I can list many similarities between a variety of cars. It doesn't mean they are just like the other.

And I honestly do not know the true differences between the IFS in the H1 and H2. If anyone has more info, I am also curious as well.

H1s have portal hubs. Much more ground clearance. H2s and H3s have standard IFS like any regular car.
