Cali DMV question?

I'm moving back down to LA in 2 weeks. I'll be driving by my old spot in Novato to pick up my vehicle titles, etc.

My California licence has expired, and since I got my Canadian BC License I'll need to retake the driving test to get it renewed. :wink:

That being said, my Hummer is on expired tags, I'm getting Tustin to smog it and send the certificate up to my old Novato address so I can swing by and get the registration paid up to date and new tags for it, but does my truck need to be there for a renewal? Trucks in LA, I'm heading to LA but I'm stopping in SF for a few days to pick up some of my old stuff.

DMV's website isn't clear on this.

I managed to get a direct line into Sacramento call center and got a hold of someone. Basically all I need is my smog certificate and my license plate # and ID and they can update my tags without having the truck there. That'll save me a trip.

Yeah direct line is 916-657-8035, that's vehicle registration services in Sacramento, it bypasses the 1-800 queue (I think?) and the maze of menu options. I got a real live person in 3 minutes. This was in the morning around 10am.

That it is. Kurt needs to go DMV directly for his license/driver's test though. So he might as well handle that at the same time since he is already there.

they answer right away too when you call the direct line. I usually scour the internet to get the number to a human when calling govt or corporate entities, gethuman.com used work.
