Borrego Fest 2014

October is the beginning of camping time for the deserts of California. Join us in the Anza Borrego Desert for 3 days of camping, 4x4 trail runs, and hiking. We will also be offering Amateur Radio License testing on Sunday for all levels from 10:00 AM to noon. The "not to be missed" pot luck dinner / Dutch Oven cook-off and campfire will be on Saturday evening.

This is a family friendly event and an opportunity for us to meet the family members we never get to see on the trail and a chance to make new friends.
This year we will be located at the Butterfield Ranch Resort, located just outside the boundary of the Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The Ranch is equipped with full hookups for RVs, plenty of tent camping, showers, and a well stocked store. I've never run a front plate, we don't even get them issued in Fla, so the po po can kiss my non-front plate running butt. I won't change my residence until after Twinmill Mansion sells, but it's good to know the reg. is relatively cheap.

It's off topic, but I'll comment on the front plate issue. I didn't run one on my Firebird for a long time. Then the red light cameras came in to being, and the legislature or the powers that be made running no front plate a violation on it's own. Used to be it was tacked on with other violations and then it changed. I live with it in Calif. along with smog checks every two years.

This original topic interested me because I know one of my friends Ranger buds is now a Forest Ranger in that area.

Law enforcement also likes using the front plate to reflect back the laser for tracking speed.
I have one car without the front plate and have not yet been cited for it.

Well, I am glad you bumped this. Some excrement hit the fan at work and I will not be able to attend this time. It really sucks because I was looking at taking my truck out for a break-in run down there after having all the suspension rebuilt in the front.

I owe you an appology, Dave. Turns out I got my weekends mixed up and I am working the 18th, not the 11th. Thinking I had no prior obligations, I scheduled a run up Last Chance to do a break in cruise on my truck since I just got it back from the shop Tuesday night.
