this interests me...I am quite shocked they would lift a racing vehicle...even though a concept it seems like it wouldnt be for rocks but more for desert high speed stuff. Anyways...I am not sure to be honest, it says its modified but doesnt specify in what way. A few things come to mind. First off, the rear is higher...I wonder if that is from the added weight of that monstrous motor without the addition of the Alpha T-bars (possibly needed an even stiffer torsion bar then the alpha bar) but also looking at the springs they seem a tad more arched then the ones I had, who knows...

Just remember - it's a one off prototype and is probably in the crusher by now. It's not sagging because it was never loaded down with gear and wheeled 50-100 times.

The sagging springs is directly related to fatigue. (I'm talking about OEM, not Rancho....I don't use Rancho Products).

I heard that some guy bought the prototype at an auction for like 40k...what a steal

Buying my stuff from ruff stuff! John Bull and my last run in frazier park has pushed me to do it. The deavers hang too low and are an issue, the spring hangers are a bitch. So I have a plan! Next saturday and sunday the 4th and 5th of august I have no work, no plans just freedom to hangout in the garage and get this done. I am scared, I have never done surgery before on squeaky but I am sure once I chop off the first piece I will be happy so I am gonna start off by making sure I have ordered the correct things. I am getting Ubolts, spring plates, shock mounts, hangers, and perches.

Can bebe or 4speed confirm that I have the right sizes for everything? I did my own research but wanna double check so I dont have the wrong stuff

Do you have a welder (preferably 220V and NOT from Harbor Freight!) and some decent welding skills? SOA isn't a bolt-on mod.

What he said. And these aren't welds you want failing. You don't want to hit a pothole on the freeway and have your rear axle shifting on you.

Not to discourage you at all. Just make sure and be honest with yourself about your welding skills.

Can't wait to see it done!

My welder is a 220v Lincoln it's good up to 1/2in with a preheat...

I'm not worried at all. I haven't had a failed weld yet. I recently welded on my brothers sliders and he smacked down on rocks putting the entire weight of his jeep without problem

The u-bolts are Chevy u-bolts, the same you run now. I went to the local spring shop (Sacramento Spring) and I gave them my old ones and they made a set for me while I waited :)

I can probably reuse mine...Deaver made me a set...Hopefully I didnt bend them on the rocks like I did with the last set!

Kinda nervous but wish me luck! I am not too concerned about weld strength I am more concerned with overall ride quality and finish but at the end of the day how can you know and get better at this stuff without trying!

Never, ever, ever reuse your u-bolts. They have to be replaced, the integrity suffers because the bolts stretch when tightened.

Speedy and I will be home all weekend. If you run into a snag - give us a call.

thanks greg! I have the stuff sitting the garage. Somehow I ended up with one U bolt so I am going to go get some U bolts this week from the dealer or a place that makes U bolts. I dont want the hold up on this project to be the U bolts. Just got off work and may start prep today by taking off the sliders. 4speed didnt take his off but he uses the OEM ones. My rocky roads get in the way of the hanger...
