LagunaH1 came back out to AZ to pick up his Jeep WJ from Reloader, so naturally he needed to get some dirt on the tires. We were happy to oblige. Jason (JK), Reloader (H3), Silverton (JL), Laguna (WJ) and I went out to the Vulture Mine trail near Wickenburg, AZ. It was absolutely perfect weather today with temps about 75.
Vulture Mine is an easy trail - "Moderate" in the Wells book - and 4 low was never needed. I put it in 4 low for a while just to exercise the encoder motor and transfer case. It's been a while and the H3 resisted going into 4 low for a while but it eventually complied. We did air down for comfort plus there are often sharp rocks on these trails.
So I don't really have much in the way of action shots but instead get to share with you some of today's scenery. The trail was nearly empty today. One SxS caught up with us and one Toyota was coming the other way at one point. And that was it. We had the trail to ourselves.
Some desert scenery
Silverton at the only spot on the trail that a bit of line picking was needed
Laguna flexing
Coming up last and taking the best line, Reloader
More scenery
Spent a lot of time in sandy washes. A lot of sections of the trail were narrow and scratchy, which upset the pretty gray Jeeps
More prettiness
Sun was getting close to the horizon
The Hummers corralling the Jeeps, similar to Australian Shepherds and their sheep.
Last pretty desert scene
