My grey H3 and it's recent quirks keeps driving me closer to the Ford dealer and a new Bronco. Day before a family vacation and I went to fill up for the trip. Got gas, went to start and nothing. Passlock issue. Waited the required 10 minutes looking like an idiot at the station, restarted and no problem. A little background. I had the Passlock issue in January of '23. No big deal. With the time and the mileage I replaced the ignition switch and went on my way without issue until this last incident. I was skeptical that the switch would be bad after only a year and a half, but really to my knowledge there isn't another cause. Fortunately O'Reilley's two towns over had one in stock, so being up against the wall with the trip the next day, I bought it and installed it. No issue until I'm cruising down I-75 and the Passlock icon comes on. At this point, I'm thinking to myself this is going to be a fun vacation waiting 10 minutes at every stop. Fortunately, the light never came back on and I have had zero problems since. That's been about 1500 miles.
So I guess my questions are, was the second light just a fluke? Is there something besides the switch that can cause the issue? RKE and TPMS quit working early this year, so is the BCM dyeing? I'd like to have a little confidence that I actually solved the problem instead of threw a part at it, but that second light while cruising down the interstate has me questioning. If anyone has any thoughts or input, it's much appreciated.
