Well figured since I got a new toy I'd post up a little build up of it... Not gunna be as extensive as my old H3 was but will do a few unique things to it here and there... Sold the Bimmer that was giving me nothing but trouble and ended up going out and finding a clean, rust free 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT... It is a 2wd but I'm not too worried about it... (Had a mustang and a Bronco that I never put into 4x4)... It's got a clean 4.8l with only 81,000 miles on it, has the wheels off of a 2015 Silverado Z71, pioneer touchscreen HD radio, and manual window that were converted to power windows, manual locks, roll-up tonnea cover, and undercoated frame... Sadly it does have wimpy 3.23 gears in the rear but don't plan on 35's soo we're fine there... Honestly it's a really good truck, simple and clean and I actually enjoy driving it... has the same trans as the H3 (4L60E 4 speed auto)... Installed my Arkansas Razorback floormats, a Chevy steering wheel cover, Roadside emergency kit, first aid kit, and a 40mm Ammobox which has: tiedowns, a folding survival shovel, thick gloves, spare brake/turn signal bulbs, etc.
Already cleaned the Throttle body which look really grimed up... And have made sausages for the winter months to weight the back end down a bit to help get some more traction...
My plans for this truck are:
The little things like blindspot mirrors like I had on my H3, and plastidip the Chevy bowties...
1.) New tires because the 265/65/18 Goodyear Wrangler SR-A's on it now are trash... I spin the tires on dry pavement without trying... Already have a set of 275/65/18 Falken Wildpeak AT3/W's that should be here sometime in the next few days... (Wanted something a little wider without being that much taller and have a meaner tread pattern...)
2.) Hand-held tuner to adjust the shift points and give it an extra bump in power and driveability: Looking at an InTune DiabloSport tuner or a Superchips Flashpaq F5 Tuner.
3.) Cold air Intake; Looking at getting a Volant Closed box intake
4.) Muffler swap, want a more straight through design to help performance/airflow but nothing too loud or drone-prone, looking at a Heartthrob Velocity muffler
5.) Finally the last major thing I plan on getting is Monstaliner bedliner in as close a color match as I can, Light Quartz Gray, and bedlining the bed as well as putting some liner just under the doors, where it "folds" underneath for an added rust prevention layer.
That's about it for now... know in me I'll have more to add because the Mod-bug is just too difficult to fight. Anyways, here are a few pictures!
Driving through the Irish Hills on the way home from buying it and had to take a picture with the Alien Monster painting.
The day I bought it
Very clean 4.8l, also has a second battery tray just behind the driver's headlight for a dual battery setup... :shifty:
Shot of the 18's up close
Just fit into the parking spot in the parking structure at college... have about a quarter inch left between the bumper and the wall...
