Hey, I have a bit of play in the steering I thought I would ask about. Took it to the local shop, and all they could do was guess that the rack needed replaced.
I have seen bits and pieces from the various forums about the bushings and rack mount being the root cause of their problems. Is there a way to identify which is actually the problem I am dealing with, so that I am not just throwing parts at it?
The specific symptoms are about a 1~2" dead spot in the steering wheel that isn't really noticeable until up to speed. Anything over 35 and I notice it, but it becomes more of a problem over 55. In the past, I had seen other mentions of the steering column being the source. I replaced the entire column as well - upper and lower.
Thanks in advance.
