Rather then having the vents open to atmosphere (and potential water ingress), those allow expansion and contraction of the air inside without actually leaving the housing open to air.... or the short answer - they're billows

Interesting, so instead of running long breather tubes up to a high point, it just uses those? Where did you find them?

so the base plate... I'd forgotten that it was a quadrajet, vortec intake so it didn't work, so time to fix... first, the problems

    problems solved

only one of these gaskets worked, I had to make the other (mostly because I didn't want to spend another hour driving to and back the auto parts store)

it runs a lot better.... hopefully it'll also find some fuel economy

replaced the chip and o2 sensor last night. I have a 6A sitting on my shelf that I think I'll now replace the OEM controller chip with the MSD... it runs a lot better now, but multistrike should only helpfinished up

    checking clearances

    like this clearance

    fixed

    line up, clean up

    weld up

    and it fully turns

one of the big reasons for this effort is to get a better turning radius at full stuff.... once I get the parts for the high-steer cross shaft (probably Thursday), this bit is done then onto all the other stuff
