Well guys let post up our CB radio mount areas. I know it's really simple and you can mount the CB anywhere but it was kind of a pain to get some ideas on how it would look in some areas.

My set up is a Uniden BEARCAT 980SSB CB Radio and I just used some Velcro and mounted it on top of the dash cluster. Love it and it's right there to use when I need it.

With the rest of the unit (the silver part shown in the box, no buttons on it or nothing) under the seat.... All the controls are in the hand piece

Speaking of CB mounts - I looked a whole bunch of threads today to figure out where to put my CB. Ultimately I decided to use the Daystar tray and mount the CB bracket to that. I figure when I'm not using CB for trails, I can swap my Daystar tray for a second one that doesn't have the CB bracket.

This was a quick and dirty install for wheeling tomorrow - so power and antenna haven't been routed inside the dash yet upthrough the Daystay tray hole.

Antenna is a 3' K40 fiberglass on my ARB bumper using one of the light tab's. Coax was RG8 with a SMA connector which a PL259 screws into - making it much easier to route through the firewall since I didn't need to cut the coax or feed the big PL259 connector through the hole.

if need be, I'll anchor the Daystar tray down with double-stick tape.

Bought some RAM Mounts but ended up making my own tray to use with the RAM suction cups.

Old thread, I know, but this is another spot to mount a radio. Started off with a little guy on the left side of the kicker panel that can easily hold a full size.

Only 2 tiny issue, hood handle is a little harder to find but works just find. Now the emergency brake release, I had to wrap some 550 cord to it as an extender. Not a big deal.

I’m either going to mount mine near my right knee, right next to the gear selector on the driver side, or swap to a single din radio and mount it flush to the dash. My OEM radio is acting weird, think it’s about time to “downgrade”

I’ve had a Uniden pro 520xl mounted under the driver seat with a remote speaker under the dash that has worked out well for trail use. No access change settings on the fly but it hasn’t been an issue. We stick to the same channel, set it and forget it on the trail.

I just recently installed an Icom IC-2730a. Love the range you can get with these. Working on my license before I really get to use it.
I took out the unused Onstar module behind the center portion of the dash and modified its mounting bracket for the Icom. I don’t think you could ask for a better location and the remote portion fits conveniently above the rear view mirror.

Thanks for those fine pictures! I’ve got my now classic TM-261a Velcro’d to the dash but this set up is great.
Question on the Mount you used for the antenna. Where did you get it and how did you route the coax and Mount secured?

Thanks,
Jason

I didn't want to drill holes to mount mine so I came up with some tabs to push between the console and floor.

For the antenna, I used the Firestick side mount just behind the front wheel.

. . . and a Panvise cell phone mount for the mic. Since the speaker was obscured by my leg, I put an external speaker on the dash.
