Another option may be to add a spacer to the lower control arm to make contact with the factory dampner. A piece of plate steel or poly material of the appropriate thickness could be attached to the contact point of the lower control arm.
On the Jeep TJ's some guys use a hockey puck or other material as a filler under the bumpstop to correct the space between the axle and frame rather than using extended bumpstops.
