The next modification squeaky got was Tomp's low profile shock mounts. These were added for the extra clearance under the rig. The BA/Hunner skids do the job well and really help keep the stock shock mounts alive but these would give the clearance that would help offroad.

Mudbug came over and helped with the install and went home with the rear hunner skids...I wonder if they are still red :D

Here are some pics

Can anyone guess what color I painted them???

I cut off the bolts a few days later so the trail doesnt cut them off for me.

I had seen scooters H2 before but I never saw the H3. Here is a pic of it next to mine. He is cranked more, shackles in the rear and the 1in body lift for reference compared to my height.

DAMN IT! out of order again...painting the H3 emblems red. I painted them red. Well an off-red that looks red but sometimes looks like that solar flare orange. My first emblem was the driver side door and that turned out the worst then got better with the passenger side door and the rear door was the best. I plan on redoing the front two one day but they still look pretty good even though they have been abused with the mud a bit.

I will do another post after I think of what was done next. I think next were a few trails with pictures, some damage, a few more trails and then my rear locker install. I will look through my pictures and get the order straight then post up.

Next thing that I did was go on a run! lol. I went to a trail in frazier park. It was fun and was the only hummer yet again :) I am always the only hummer if I am not with H4O...

this is a fun trail but one thing I realized is the lack of clearance I have compared to some of the other guys I run with

Next mod I did was paint the grille black. It held up for a while but not too well. I ended up having my new grille sandblasted and that worked well and has held up so far but for this first grille the gloss black was done instead of the new one done in bedliner.

this next run was probably my most fun Non-Hummer run I have ever been on. We went snow wheeling up in frazier and it was a blast! We had an XJ, a built TJ, the H3 and a stock jeep liberty. Surprisingly the liberty did well. He ran 3rd in line so we had someone to tow him in the front and in the back though, after higher elevations was when he started to struggle. The built TJ and I swapped off on leading the pack. I loved leading as I was breaking the trail for everyone so I had the toughest path :)

The duratracs did amazing in the snow!!

well at this point I was wheeling alot! The frazier park run was march 6th then the snow run was march 27th then this run was april 8th. I also squeezed in some other runs but dont always have pics for the local runs. Drinkwater flats is in this post. this was the first run with my family. My mom, sister and duke (german shepard) went in the hummer with me, while my dad, other sister and molly (yorkie) went with my brother in his jeep. It was really cool to take them out with us and show them some stuff they normally wouldnt see.

2 weeks later I was off to gorman! Gorman is about 30 minutes from me and is a good place for new wheelers. The trails arent too difficult but the 4x4 area can be...lol This is the home of the Sluice box. What is the sluice box? Well the sluice box is an enemy of mine. It is a tight obstacle where body damage is almost guaranteed. Even small jeeps have been damaged in here, look at the end of the obstacle and you see alot of broken tail lights lol.

I went here with Cbetts and his friend stitch. This wasnt an official run but I tagged along.

This mudhole has sunk many rigs! Jeeps, suzukis, toyotas and the list goes on! I have only see two successful complete this mudhole. Mudbug in his H2 and serge in the "hamster"

Even though stitch was new to wheeling we knew he was going to stick around seeing he was smiling even after having mud intrude the cab.

I popped out 75% through the sluice and suffered no real damage.

the next night I went back to gorman with 2 jeeps. We played in the 4x4 area for the small night run. This is where I got the damage. The day before I went through 75% through the sluice box but I wanted to go further. This time I made it about 80-85% through. Looking back on this with some more knowledge then 7 months ago, I wonder if I would have rolled if I didnt lean on this rock and if I was leaning because of the tire on the rack...or it might of been me just slipping off the rock...who knows. Feel free to add input to this.

O crap! I forgot one run. In between drinkwater flats 4/8 and gorman 4/22 and 4/23 was the Hummer run at gold mountain in big bear on 4/16.

I knew I would fix the damage but didn't know when. I dont mind scratches, scrapes or small dents but didnt like this big dent so eventually it would be fixed but I will get to that later on in the thread

After the Gold mtn run I decided to paint my center caps black. Running aftermarket rims are great but for me, IMHO, I cant spend money on rims to scrape the piss out of them so the OEM one's would stay. I like the look but they needed to be black. I contemplated the steelies, and OEM gloss black rims but I decided to just bedline them then shoot a gloss black over it. I went this route because I knew bedliner likes to hold onto dirt so with a gloss over it that wouldn't be as big of an issue. I did the center caps first to see how they held up. They ended up working out great and eventually did all the rims too. I like this because I get alot of rock rash and with a quick spray of bedliner it looks as good as new. Another positive about the bedliner is that it doesnt look patchy if you touch it up. I dont touch them up with the rims on the h3 though, I dont wanna get overspray on the paint! :)
