As of now, yes with a rebuild. Considering a mechanical T-Case, but that will be a later update. I will be rebuilding the T-case before I put it back in, as it has not been serviced (besides fluid) since the factory.

Couple more updates as a plod along.
I decided to do a full tear down on the motor. Probably wasn't needed, but assuming I don't screw anything up, it should last another 100k (which is all I have on the H3 anyway). Degreased, new Cam bearings, new plugs. I had the heads cleaned too. Considered porting them, but I am trying my best not to go too silly on everything. I already let the scope creep from a cam swap to a full on rebuild. :emb:

Slowly cutting away the rust from the rockers. Plan is to flatten out the underside of the body, trim and reinstall the plastic rocker panel molding thingy, and build new rock rails that snug up. Recently started kicking around the idea of adding a body lift.... TBD on that too.

@Bebe, thoughts on just going all in and converting to a driver side T-case drop and tossing in a H2 front diff (I know it is not that simple) but with the new engine and transmission, I need new front and rear driveshafts anyway.

Hell yeah! I did the same with my 6.2L lol. Instead of throwing it in, I went overboard with it :giggle:

So for the new 6L80E transmission, if you don't change the stock T-case out, do you already have the pieces needed to make it work?

And isn't the difference in length between the two transmissions less than an inch? Shouldn't we be able to use the stock driveshafts? Curious.

Front driver shaft likely won't work, there may be enough play in the CV joint, but I wouldn't want to try it out. The rear might be fine too, but I also have a SOA conversion in the rear, the stock rear shaft has worked for years, but probably should just get one right sized.

I have not gotten the to T-case yet, it needs a rebuild too, so I will get into that later. Worse comes to worse, I rebuild the 4L60 and toss it back in.

Slowly poking around with the motor. I need to order everything to rebuild it. I just need to spot finding other projects to work on.
