    THORparts....RIP...

THORparts will be no more as of April 30th, 2012.

Its been a great time, and I've sure enjoyed the ride! Much thanks to everyone that has supported me over the years, and to all the folks that boned-up their cash to buy parts from me and make it a success!

The parts biz is actually very good but, stocking an inventory requires a bunch of space and time...and I am running low on both! THORparts has always been a side-project for me, and it has grown to the point where I cannot manage it and work a regular job at the same time. Ever increasing production costs have forced me to raise my prices, or go overseas for manufacturing. And that's not going to happen! So I'm shutting down production, and I will be selling off all of my remaining inventory.

    So now what?
Don't sweat it...I'm not going anywhere. I'm simply switching gears somewhat to focus more on building my rig...and less on producing parts. I'll be having a monster garage sale soon, and I've got a bunch of new and used THORparts, as well as some stock H3 parts that I need to get out of here. Look for me soon in the swap meet section. If you've been holding off on buying a bumper...now would be the time! You'll have to contact me via this forum (private message) as the THORparts.com website will be going off-line April 30th. Most likely this will be permanent but, I do have everything THORparts stored on computer, and limited future runs from time-to-time are not out of the question.

UPDATE: THORparts is once again up & running! Lots of the same ole great parts and many new parts coming later this year. Thanks to everyone for their support!

Sorry to hear that. Your bumper is as close as can be to the bumper I would have wanted if I had kept my H3 stock.

I feel your pain. It is tough on "small business owners" myself included when growth brings on the full time attention to maintain some inventory and buy materials and produce a product. I found the government NOT friendly to small business which are subject to most all the same requirements and regulations and taxes of the big mass production entities, of which they seem to be able to get around. Paying quarterly taxes on my small transactions without much expense to write off makes the pain even worse. I feel penalized for trying to be efficient!
All of my small orders are subject to neglect by sub-contractors going for big jobs. They may someday change that strategy when things get slow.
Sorry you are pulling the plug and we are loosing one of the few sources for future aftermarket mods for the H3/H3T line.
You had a good run and made some awesome products that a lot of thought went into.
I do however look forward to your progress and success of your recent H3 modification.

Sorry to hear CJ but hopefully this frees up some more time for your project. Look forward to seeing your garage sale post. Glad I picked up my rear bumper when I did (thanks again for that!)

    Thanks guys.

Hunner...you're dead-on with your business assessment. Like you...I got tossed aside by my fab shop, when other clients came knocking. Then they started getting "lippy" about my small production runs, and they implied I was "wasting their time" with my small (under $10,000) orders. When things were real bad 2-years ago...I came into their shop and ordered a bunch of THORparts bumpers. At that time they had a skeleton crew...only open 4-days a week...and they seemed anxious to jump right on it...and they were glad to have the business. Now that the economy is on the upswing, they have alot more work...and all I get is eye-rolling responses, price-increases, and put on the back-burner.

I just did my taxes...and THORparts hurt me. Its been a very successful business, and I've done all I can do with it as a sole-prop. I am faced with either taking it to the next level (incorporating)...or halting production. I feel there isn't enough market to make this jump. The same situation exists with PayPal...the transaction fees are killing me, and I did enough biz in 2012 for them to report my income to the IRS. I either need to get an SSL (shopping cart) on my website or quit doing so much business online. As I'm sure Hunner knows...there is not much profit margin on manufacturing (especially at such a specialized market). Just by chance...things just recently sort of "sync'd-up"...

My inventory is at an all-time low.
I'm losing my storage space (again).
My website host is closing-up shop...and I have to move it.
I'm busy with the SAS swap and a full-time job.

So, its either re-invest a bunch of money....or bail-out. And I see too many H3's in the mall parking lot, and not enough muddy ones!

That truly is a shame. I've been studying this kind of stuff in school lately...guess there not lying when a small business gets screwed by the big guys. I must say small businesses do offer the best service for the most part. Good luck with the future of work on the positive side is that ur SA project will get more attention
